It's a wrap!!🤩💫

Semester 1, 2026 finally came to an end in late July. So many memories were made, and there was so much to learn along the way; making traditional jamu, poetry, and a lot more, also diving into professional placements across local organisations, NGOs, and financial institutions.

A huge thank you to our partner universities, host organisations, supervisors, and the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan (NCP) for making this semester an unforgettable journey.

Before starting her academic career, Dr Rebecca took part in Acicis programs in Yogyakarta and Malang.

That experience gave her a real, lived understanding of Indonesia's diversity, and taught her independence and immersion in ways no classroom could.

Acicis wouldn’t be here without the amazing support from the New Colombo Plan, the Australian Government, our member universities, and Indonesian partners.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to our journey over the past 30 years. This milestone would not have been possible without your continued partnership and trust 💚

The recent parliamentary inquiry into Australia's Asia capability, Security and Prosperity in Asia, made the case for greater investment in Indonesian language and Asia capability programs.
The lack of clear pathways and outcomes for people to use that Asia capability was also raised throughout the hearings, submissions, and report.

Our Alumni Tracer Study has surveyed graduates from our 1995 to 2005 cohorts to understand where an in-country Indonesia experience leads over time, careers, language use, and ongoing ties to the region. This is a rare evidence base showing what investment in Asia capability and language learning can lead to, decades down the line.
