A SMART goal is used to help guide goal setting. SMART is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. Therefore, a SMART goal incorporates all of these criteria to help focus your efforts and increase the chances of achieving your goal.

Specific: Well defined, clear, and unambiguous.
Measurable: With specific criteria that measure your progress toward the accomplishment of the goal.
Achievable: Attainable and not impossible to achieve.
Realistic: Within reach, realistic, and relevant to your purpose.
Timely: With a clearly defined timeline, including a starting date and a target date. The purpose is to create urgency.

Overall SMART goals enhance accountability, facilitate effective planning, and increase the likelihood of success. 😀💪

Applying the snowball method to savings.

As we know the snowball method is a way of paying small amounts of debt until it has gone. But what if we applied that method to saving money too?

We are fans of the idea that to save money effectively, you should have multiple savings accounts. One should be a sinking fund, which is money for a specific item or goal. One should be a ‘fun fund’ or ‘yes fund’ that is a set amount of money that you put away for fun experiences or simply just a night out with friends. Another account should be an emergency fund, which is between 3 and 6 months of your living expenses in case of an unexpected medical bill or natural disaster.
The final account should be for a big goal, like a house deposit, buying a caravan and living a nomadic lifestyle, or the jet ski you’ve always wanted.

This may seem overwhelming, but try building these accounts up smallest to largest, gaining momentum and motivation as you go!😀

Once you see that you've accomplished the smallest goal it will help motivate you to continue on to the bigger goals. 💪
