Guys I was 19 when I started restricting my eating, disordered eating, extreme clean eating, intense exercise and everything else that comes with diet culture and I am STILL trying to heal the gut damage i did. 7 years later and my gut is still so damaged for what those habits did. If you’re young and going through that trust me feed yourself, fuel yourself and love yourself because it’s way better than doing this much internal damage ( not to mention the mental damage 🤡. Not. Fun.

A rollercoaster where you spend all your money in 24 hours, fly to mexico at 3am because you want meet a shaman, start 3 new businesses at 4am, buy 6 new pianos (one for every room duh), run off 0 sleep for a week, forget consequences exist, think a 5 day bender is a great idea, speak a million miles an hour and wonder why everyone is asking what’s wrong?? 🥲🥲 (not personal experiences but I would not put it past me if I stopped taking my meds :))

Gentle reminder that your body is meant to change as you age. I’m 25 and my body is not supposed to look like it did when I was 19 so there is no point looking at those old photos and wishing you had that body back, bodies grow and change and that’s ok💕

I have been asked a couple of times today about what I have been doing to heal from the world of disordered eating and diet culture. Here are 7 things I remind myself when the thoughts are getting a little too loud 💕

I was going to post this on R U OK day but thought it would be a nice reminder on a random day when it’s not in our forefront. R U OK day has been a great initiative to create a conversation that was once taboo, we are now evolving past needing to know how to initiate it, we now need to know how to deal with it. More nuance is needed and remember your loved ones cannot help you if you dont tell them you need help❤️❤️

Weekly self awareness prompt

21/09/2021

Ever felt uncomfortable by an inappropriate joke? Whether it be racist, homophobic, buying into r**e culture, misogynistic, classist etc… I find this is one of the best responses. Making them explain the “joke” firstly holds them accountable and secondly once they start explaining it becomes apparent the root of the joke is really not funny. If they respond with “it’s just a joke” ask them again - “yep I got that, can you please explain the joke” they usually end up looking like the silly one in the end. I know it can be hard but you’ve got this ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

A day late but in light of I have made these slides to help the conversation continue. R U OK day has been amazing to help remove the stigma around starting the conversation but we have moved to a space now where more nuance is needed ❤️ In times like this where a lot of people are struggling it’s important to know how to react if some one does respond with “no” ❤️

Love this from 🌈 I always tend to forget the bad times when I’m “good” but it’s always important to remember that these are the times we create are good habbits to prepare for the harder times. Sleep, therapy, medication are my big three ❤️ I would always stop taking my medication when I felt better because I was convinced I was “fixed” but I’ve now realised it’s quite common to have these feelings and how important it is to continue treatment!
