NDIS Core Supports can sound abstract until you picture them in real life.

Ray Foundation Group’s article “A Day in the Life With NDIS Core Supports in Perth” explains that Core Supports can show up in practical daily moments, such as getting ready in the morning, preparing meals, keeping the home running, accessing the community, and using transport to attend appointments or activities.

The article also explains that Core Supports are not just about “hours of support” — they should fit around a person’s routine, goals and preferences.

The rollout of new framework planning has been delayed until 1 April 2027.

The NDIA says this extra time will be used to listen to feedback, test proposed rules and processes, and share more information about the transition.

For participants and families, this means the planning changes are still coming — but not as quickly as previously expected.

Guesswork is exhausting, for you and for your support team.

Instead of “behaviors of concern”, we use a Positive Behavior Support check under the NDIS:

1) Map what’s happening before/during/after (triggers + function)
2) Build replacement skills with the same purpose (communication, choice, regulation)
3) Adjust routines and environments so support stays consistent

When you know the “why” and practice a better “how”, quality of life improves more independence, confidence, and calmer days at home and in the community.

The Australian Government and state and territory governments have committed $4 billion over 5 years for Thriving Kids, the first phase of Foundational Supports.

The NDIA says this will support children aged 8 and under with developmental delay and/or autism with low to moderate support needs, with services starting from 1 October 2026 and full rollout expected by 1 January 2028.

This is important for families to follow, especially if they are trying to understand what may sit inside or outside the NDIS in future.

The 12-month transition period for the updated NDIS support lists ended on 2 October 2025.

The NDIA says these lists separate supports into what can and cannot be bought with NDIS funding.

This is why it is now more important than ever to check whether a support is clearly related to disability needs and allowed under NDIS rules before spending plan funding.

June 2026 The DEC Networking – South is scheduled for Tuesday, 2 June 2026, 10:30am–12:00pm AWST at Ken Jackman Hall – North, Kwinana Town Centre.

The DEC describes these events as a way to connect NDIS providers with each other so they can better support participants.

For Perth providers and support coordinators, local networking can help build stronger referral pathways and more connected support systems.

The NDIA is hosting Understanding the NDIS webinar: Working with Providers on Thursday, 21 May 2026.

The session is listed as covering how participants can choose providers, communicate expectations, understand service agreements, know their rights and responsibilities, and respond when issues arise.

For participants and families, this is a practical topic — because the right provider relationship can make supports clearer, safer and more effective.
