As the Noongar seasons change, the children have been exploring Djiba, a season of warmer days and new growth. ๐ŸŒฑโ˜€๏ธ

Our learning experiences have been inspired by the beautiful changes we can see and feel in nature. The children have been enjoying our scented playdough infused with lemon myrtle, along with lots of blooming natural materials to explore.

The children loved discovering the different textures, scents and colours, using their senses to investigate the wonderful signs of the new season. ๐Ÿ‹๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒฟ

It has been a beautiful way to connect with nature and learn about the changing Noongar seasons

Thank you Little Smiles WA for taking the time to visit Matisse and provide such a fun and engaging health incursion for our children as part of Dental Week.

Your kindness, patience, and enthusiasm made learning about caring for our teeth an exciting and memorable experience. The children loved practicing healthy dental habits, and gaining confidence about visiting the dentist.

Thank you again for making such a positive impact on our childrenโ€™s learning. We look forward to welcoming you back soon for dental check ups!

Over the past few weeks, we have been exploring the rich cultures and traditions of the Indigenous peoples of both Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Throughout July, we celebrated both NAIDOC Week here in Australia and Matariki in New Zealand, embracing the opportunity to learn together.

This year, our educators focused on deepening their own understanding by choosing new areas of learning to explore alongside the children. This approach created meaningful, intentional learning experiences that sparked curiosity, encouraged thoughtful conversations, and enriched outcomes for everyone involved.

We concluded our celebrations by coming together as the Matisse community to share delicious food, laughter, stories, music, and connection. It was a wonderful way to honour the importance of community, culture, and belonging while celebrating the diverse perspectives that make our learning environment so special.

Thank you to Jupiter Health for visiting Matisse on Friday to administer the Flu Vaccine to our staff, families, and children who wished to receive it.

Having the team come directly to our service made the process so convenient and accessible for our families and educators.

It is wonderful to see our community working together to support one another and do our best to stay healthy and safe throughout the winter months. โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Team meetings at Matisse - Last night we delved deeply into the 10 Principles of Child Safe Organisations and reflected on what these principles look like in our everyday practices at Matisse. These discussions allow us to strengthen our shared commitment to ensuring every child at Matisse experiences an environment where they are protected, respected, listened to, and empowered.

At the heart of all 10 Principles is the understanding that children have rights, voices, and agency โ€” and it is our responsibility to create spaces where they know they are safe, valued, and deeply cared for.
