Some people lead with titles. Others lead with kindness, action, and the ability to make others believe in themselves again. True leaders create spaces where people can grow, heal, belong, and dream bigger. Support can change a life, especially when someone arrives in a new country carrying uncertainty, fear, and hope at the same time.

At Sister Project, so many of our sisters have found support, guidance, encouragement, or simply a safe place through Tracey’s work and generosity. Her advocacy for migrant women has touched countless lives, often quietly, always with compassion and humanity.

This award is more than deserved. It recognises years of volunteer work, dedication, and standing beside women who needed someone to believe in them. Today and always, we celebrate Tracey for reminding us that community changes lives.

Because no human is illegal. Every woman deserves dignity, opportunity, safety, and a place to belong. And Tracey continues to advocate for every migrant woman she can, with strength, courage, and heart.

Thank you, for walking beside our community and helping so many women grow. 💛

We’ve started celebrating WA Day!🎉

Tonight from 6:30pm we celebrate the incredible people of Western Australia, talented people in community, science, humanities, and many other fields who make this place better every day.

Tonight we especially celebrate who has been working alongside migrant women in Western Australia since 2019, and supporting communities long before that. We are deeply grateful for your hard work, care, and dedication.

As some of our sisters said: “You are our winner no matter what.”

Life is beautiful when people feel belonging, support, and care, no matter what their journey has been.

Sister Project, empowering women for a better future for all in WA.

Last Friday I had the incredible opportunity to visit Sister Project in Ellenbrook to open a space alongside some amazingly resilient women from diverse backgrounds where English is their second language to speak with them about their end-of-life plans, which in turn lead to grief, loss and love.

What an absolute privilege to be in the presence of these women, all carrying their own personal grief as well as ancestral grief & beliefs passed down through generations before and a more recent grief with the loss of one of their own Sisters. We lifted each other's spirit through shared stories, in a circle we sat respectful in silence holding space for each other and the sacredness that death is and what it brings, we shared both tears and laughter, we hugged and built trust through our vulnerability.
We spoke our loved ones names and remembered them and of rituals and beliefs across different cultures and how grief impacts us all differently but equally too. We discussed things we can say or do to help those around us that may be grieving and of shared personal experiences of things that may not be as well received. We all sat together quietly, softly, gently acknowledging our own grief but also the accumulation of grief in the room, no judgement, no fear, just free to feel whatever came up in that moment.

We also talked about what brings us joy through our sadness and committed to one task in the day that followed to make time for our own self-care, (so very important when grief comes crashing through without warning) and how we can make peace and befriend grief when she comes to visit.

It just takes the initiation of a conversation to turn into something really amazing
Thank you Sister Project for having me, it was wonderful to meet you all and be back in the beautiful space that you have created 💜🫶🥰I was deeply moved by the trust you put in me to open your hearts and minds and touched by your kindness, compassion and care to me and to one another.
The certificate of appreciation you presented to me was the icing on the cake and instills in me that what I do is important and so needed 🙏

A story of strength, turned into purpose 💛

We’re incredibly proud to see this feature sharing part of Tracey’s journey and the heart behind Sister Project.

What began from a difficult personal experience became a commitment to ensuring migrant and refugee women feel seen, supported, connected, and empowered.

More than a story of trauma, this is a story about what becomes possible when women support women. At the end of the day, we have far more in common than differences, we all want safety, opportunity, connection, and a future where our families can thrive.

At Sister Project, we work to create pathways into training, employment, leadership, and economic participation so women can stand on their own two feet, support their families, and invest back into their communities.

You don’t need to share someone’s experience to make a difference, empathy, community, and action create change.

Be part of the change 🌱✨
