How to Get Your Business More Profitable & Easier to Run Even If You’re Already Flat-Out
I’ve just written a 5 Step Guide on what to do if this year hasn’t delivered the business success you wanted.
It shows you 5 places to check and see where you might have missed the mark. And it covers a couple of quick-fixes to make sure your next move gets you bankable results.
If you’d like a copy then comment below and I’ll shoot one to you.
P.S. It also has a section on what to do if you’re super busy, but you think there should be more profit to show for it.

I spent some time with Jennifer Wilde from One Planet Bags the other day and came away amazed at Jennifer’s commitment to her cause. The difference between many of us who only believe in something, is that Jennifer is sharing her belief and passion to educate us all and encourage everyone to do their part in reducing plastic waste.
After seeing the insane amount of plastic bags going through the checkouts in the local supermarkets, Jennifer was inspired to make a change and help us to do the same. One Planet Bags was born on the back of needing to stop the wasteful and harmful amount of plastic bags being used to carry our fresh produce.
After doing a significant amount of research, Jennifer has found an alternative bag solution to carrying fresh fruits 🍎🍊 and vegetables. 🥬🥕 If you hit the link www.oneplanetbags.com.au there is more information on Jennifer’s story and One Planet Bags.
Jennifer’s moto is “SAVING THE PLANET ONE BAG AT A TIME” and this cause and business is worthy of all our support.
This is our time to Reuse, Reduce and Recycle and One Planet Bags is a great start for us all. ♻️♻️♻️

I spent some time the other day with Clint Godde from Blue Dog Garage at his workshops in Bellevue. The name Blue Dog has some relevance to his passion for Blue Healers which he has owned from when his was 15 yrs old. His current healers are rescue dogs with two of them being deaf; you would not know it until he tells you. Clint interacts with them through sign language that is unique between Clint and his dogs – special to watch.
Clints other passion is the restoration of cars. What makes Blue Dog Garage special is they work closely with the client to get the best outcome and quality. There is a saying in the workshop “we don’t want clients coming back with the same project, we want them to come back with the next project” – it’s about quality! Blue Dog Garage offers services in rust repair, panel & paint, mechanical repairs & service, and fabrication of motor trim, it’s the complete package.
Clint is a self-taught tradesman; from the age of 16 he has been fixing and building cars which started with a 1973 XA Ford ute that his dad gave him. He must have done a good job because he still has the car along with a range of other cars from Toyotas to a mustang.
Family, baseball, and Australian birds is his other passion which he makes time for when he is not looking after his customers.
Clint has a great local business worthy or our support.

ARE YOUR EMPLOYEES FALLING OUT OF LOVE WITH YOU? Business owners’ number one challenge today is: Keeping quality talent And, finding quality talent. The cost of getting it wrong is: Businesses stay small and nothing changes We hire the wrong people We fit the job to the people And, we burnout because the pressure and stress becomes too much.

I spent some time with Suzi and Darren Byrom from Combined Logistics to hear their story and to talk about their business.
Darren and Suzi had been business owners since 1994 and thought at that time, “rather than work for someone else, let’s do this for ourselves”. Combined Logistics (CL) was born in 2015 and since then it has always been about service and value adding. Suzi and Darren see challenges as opportunities for everyone. ✅👍✅
CL's name was born from the idea of combining partnerships with quality businesses offering a complete complementary service. Today they own a modern fleet, their own warehouse and workshop and a team of drivers, workshop personal and admin support staff. The range of services is extensive and if you hit the link www.combinedlogistics.com.au you can see everything they cover. ✅✅
CL is a family business, and the family includes the staff, it’s a sense of belonging, the common cause of working together for each other and their customers.
In addition to Darren and Suzi’s commitment to family; Darren also enjoys his golf 🏌️ and when they can get away, these are the things they spend their time on. 👍
Finally, something Darren said struck me when I asked him why CL is successful, he answered “we say yes and chew harder”! A great attitude! ✅✅

I caught up with Alan Moody the other day from Haulmore Trailer Sales at his impressive facility in Hazelmere. Haulmore has a great workshop and yard which is modern and striking. ✅✅✅
Back in 1972 Alan and his mate opened Haulmore; in the 80’s during the stock market crash the business fell on hard times and Alan had to restart the business again on his own. He restarted the business in shed on a property out the back of Hazelmere. Blowing the fuses ⚡️💥🔌for the neighbourhood forced him to open the site he sits on now; all be it a lot smaller and humble than today.
Haulmore has ridden the ups & downs of the WA economy from stock market crashes to the Covid epidemic 🦠🧫 and the business still stands strong, known and respected for its quality, service, innovated ideas, and ability to build and design trainers for its special clients. In addition to the manufacture and design of heavy transport trailers, they also rent, buy, and sell trainers too.
Alan is also a passionate boatie 🛥 enjoying Rottnest Island as often as he can and has a large family which he loves spending time with. Look at the Haulmore logo and you will see evidence of his other passion - WA. 👍👍
Alan is a great local and has a great local business.

Insurance is that item you must have and when you don’t it can hurt when it goes wrong. Having a broker on hand who is interested only in your best outcomes and cover makes this burden a lot more palatable to swallow. Frans du Plessis from Grace Insurance is a business owner who subscribes strongly to the notion of best and right insurance cover and taking away as much pain as possible with your insurance. His Grace Insurance business model is built around that ethos, and it has established him, his team, and his business as one of the leading insurance brokers. The business, Frans and his team have been recognised by their peers and industry with some impressive awards. Hit the link www.graceinsurance.com.au for more info and check some of the reviews – outstanding!✅✅✅
Frans is originally from Pretoria in South Africa 🇿🇦, and it was there he started his career in insurance. In 2015 Frans opened Grace insurance in Perth and it has grown strongly since then.
Frans has another passion is photography 📸, and especially special international exotic locations 🏖. Covid-19 has torpedoed that for the moment however maybe when we get back to some normally his drones will fly again somewhere overseas. 🙏

The other day I had coffee with Stephen Wigley from Burning Fruit and we talked about his business and how he started Burning Fruit.
The name was the first thing that grabbed me, and the way Stephen explains it, puts it into context. I will never however explain it properly in words so, you need to hit the link www.burningfruit.com for the story. You will be blown away by the site, it is one of the most impressive and engaging sites I’ve seen and it is a credit to his business. No wonder they have a quality following and client base. Stephen saw a gap in the web design market around User Experience (UX) and understanding how people behave on websites in order to raise sales conversion – also known as the Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) and Burning Fruit are nailing it. ✅✅✅
Stephen is originally from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 arriving in Australia in 2005. On his way to Perth, he went via the UK 🇬🇧, Malaysia 🇲🇾, Melbourne, and Sydney finally landing here and this has been home ever since. He is passionate about his family, the beach 🏖, surfing 🏄♂️(and he reckons he is rubbish at it) and rugby union 🏉.
Stephen and his team have a great local business and they are worthy of our support.

I spent some time with Paul Misra from Ellenbrook Brake & Service Centre the other day at his Ellenbrook workshop. Cars and fixing anything mechanical runs deep in Pauls family, his dad started the business back in 2008. Paul did his apprenticeship at another workshop before becoming a service advisor at some of the dealerships in Perth and in 2013 Paul joined his dad Doug in his workshop; Paul took over the business when dad retired.
Paul’s passion for cars is broad from renovating classic cars, fixing everyday drives, and fixing and selling special cars. He started from young and so has plenty of experience. He has also developed a strong understanding & appreciation for great service. Driving to a customer and looking at the problem rather than making them get the car to him is one of those special service things he does for his loyal customers.
Besides cars being his passions, family is important and the special mascot in the business - Sophie (Pictured). Sophie is the doorbell, guard dog, welcoming committee and all round general feel good ambassador in the business.
Paul’s business is a great local business worthy of our support.
