Black spot is a type of algae which is named this due to the dark spot on top of the growth, which is usually the only visible part. If you were only to remove this spot, the algae will grow back within a few days.

Black spot is a slow growing algae compared to most others, however it is very tough to get rid of. Algae growth is caused by an imbalance in the pH of the pool from wind and rain, so maintaining regular chemical treatments will help keep black spots away.

Here's a recent job we completed, fibreglass pool resurfacing in Duncraig 👍🏊‍♂️

The pool has been fibreglassed with filler coat applied. We then sanded it back one more time before the final gel coat gets applied. Once we apply the final gel coat the pool is ready to be filled again :)
