What a big weekend of racing 🏁

Lake Kepwari did not let us down! After a beautiful Saturday for tuning and fun the race on Sunday was the focus!

A few hardy members camping out with the rest of the crew coming down early Sunday.

Sunday morning saw the lake starting to chop up with the deep waters presenting a challenge for the 8 teams πŸ˜€

The decision was made to maintain safety that we would conduct a 3 lap time trial event over a series of heats, this proved to be very exciting and really good fun in the changing conditions.

Team 039 coming home with a very strong series in the new hull, proving its rough water capability.

Team 165 with some trick mods brings home a tidy second place after chasing hard all day.

Team 181 proving that power is not always the decider with the mighty 951 putting the boys in Third.

A special mention to team 199 for showing the club how to execute the best part of a 95 degree banked turn in rough water while at speed...needless to say it was an epic save and a test for the bilge pumps!!!

A super weekend all round.

Our focus now is on the Dam 2 Dam for those making the trek to Kununurra and once we return the stunning Swan Spectacular is in our sights.

Till then, keep those boats upright and bilge pumps in check!!

Round 2 Wrap-Up!!! - This is a long one, Settle inπŸ˜‡

Saturday saw the teams brave what was an absolute torture test for man and machine, the teams took on the first enduro at the Burswood facility and set out to conquer a full 60 minute, non stop race on the 2km circuit, something we have never done before!

Calm waters and a palpable level of uncertainty about fuel capacity saw us kick off the start of the race......will i make it? πŸ€” Did i tighten that bolt?πŸ€“ What is that rattle?😳 I wish I had better seats......🀒 and all other manner of emotions started to creep in by the 30 minute mark along with the mental game of determination and grit!πŸ’ͺ

The group A field was made up of no less than 9 punters with a final start grid of 8, unfortunately 078 had some issues that were not able to be resolved trackside so it spent the day on the trailer!!

A storming start from the boats off the beach gave time to settle the field and create some room for the timing crew to get their heads around the new system and settle into a rhythm.

The laps started to mount quickly with some teams seeming to forget that this was an enduro, not a sprint!!!πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ€βž‘οΈ

Some early issues saw the 080 boat retire with exhaust issues and 066 with a failed reverse actuator, 066 did some floating repairs and rejoined, not long after we saw a human retirement with the 039 nav deciding she had enough!!

The race went full distance with the remaining 7 craft all coming to the finish line in absolute style, a testament to the tough Mini Jets and teams to get home.

Final Placing were:
Team 199 in First Troy Rowe
Team 231 in Second Nathan Ditchburn
Team 039 in Third Cadd

A short break and some much needed energy boost coming from our premier supporters Red Bull who had jumped on board to support the day and we had the B group teams ready to try their hand at the race. The teams decided a 30 min stint was plenty in the slower craft!!

A grid of 4 became 3 after the Williams entry suffered a starter issue right on the line and despite valiant efforts could not be fired up.🀬

The 3 B boats took off and begun their torture test, amazingly all 3 craft made it home in the 30min window with a minimum of fuss, the smaller field made for some good calm water allowing the boats have a relatively smooth race, as the minutes fell the laps continued to grow to a final placing of:

Team 165 in First Alan Bijl
Team 080 in Second Markus Christie
Team 264 in Third Luke Graham

With the racing done and the muscle fatigue starting to set in we retired to the members bar for the 2025 Trophy Presentation, This event we love as we get to reflect and enjoy the past year's trials, tribulations and story's while we recognise the achievements of the teams.

Below are the 2025 prize recipients and we once again congratulate those who managed to get some shelf fillers either for racing prowess, skills on and off water or simply just being top notch club members.
