This morning at Little Buckets we had a messy, noisy and very fun Tool Painting activity!
The children used toy hammers and tools to bang, tap and press paint-covered cotton balls sealed under glad wrap. There was lots of laughter as they explored the sounds and watched the paint move and spread.
Some children gently tapped, while others went full force with their hammers to see what would happen! As the activity went on, many switched to using their hands to squish, press and swirl the colours around.
A hands-on sensory experience full of creativity, curiosity and lots of fun!

To celebrate Picnic Day, our toddlers got creative making their own sandwiches using craft materials. We chatted about our favourite sandwich fillings and toppings, with everyone taking a moment to think about what they love most on their bread.
This fun activity encouraged creativity, communication, and decision-making as the children designed their own delicious pretend lunches.

There’s something special about creating together.
Our communal art projects give children the opportunity to collaborate, share ideas, and contribute to something bigger as a group. From painting and drawing to mixed-media masterpieces, every child leaves their unique mark while building teamwork, creativity and confidence.
We love seeing our little artists work together to create beautiful pieces that brighten our learning spaces and celebrate the individuality of every child.

Today at Little Buckets Kinross, the children explored Australian native animals through imaginative tuff tray play.
They sorted and named animals such as kangaroos, koalas, wombats and crocodiles, with a strong interest in water animals. Using blue materials and sand, they created habitats and discussed where animals live, what they eat, and how they move.
The experience encouraged curiosity about Australian wildlife while supporting communication, teamwork and imaginative thinking through shared play.

Today in the Kindy Room, we explored Planet Earth and its continents as part of our learning journey from Australia and where we live.
The children looked at wooden people and discussed where they might be from, sparking conversations about different countries and cultures.
They then used markers and coloured pencils to colour in the continents on world maps, exploring our planet through art and discussion.

Today our toddlers learned an important life skill – blowing their own noses!
With winter here, we talked about the importance of keeping warm and helping to stop the spread of germs by coughing and sneezing into our elbows and using tissues when we have runny noses.
The children practised coughing into their elbows before having a go at blowing their noses with a tissue. Some children are still developing the blowing motion, so we worked with them individually, demonstrating and encouraging them along the way.
It’s wonderful to see our little learners building independence and healthy habits as they grow.

Little Buckets Kinross is a small, family-run early learning centre just near Currambine Train Station and close to the freeway.
We’ve got a close-knit team, with many of the same educators caring for the children each day, so little ones get to build familiar, trusting relationships and feel comfortable when they arrive.
It’s a warm, relaxed environment where children are supported as they learn and grow at their own pace and families are always part of the journey too.

Last week at Little Buckets, we explored Aboriginal art and culture through a hands-on creative experience.
The children created their own handprints and then decorated them using cotton buds to make traditional dot-style patterns. We used Aboriginal-inspired colours to bring each piece to life, focusing on the meaning and beauty behind this style of art.
It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to connect creativity with culture, develop fine motor skills, and express themselves through art in a meaningful way.

During our quiet time today, we explored water painting with a rainbow of vibrant colours!
The children learned how to carefully apply the water paints to their paper, practising patience, concentration and brush control. While a few masterpieces needed a second attempt, with a little guidance everyone created beautiful artworks they were so proud of.
It was wonderful to watch their confidence grow as they experimented with colour and developed their fine motor skills through creative play.
