With a broken heart, we say farewell to our cat, Jeffery. We brought him with us to Australia from Florida, and he's lived with me longer than anyone else (16 years), my wife included. We gave him his favourite meal and held him as we said farewell.

Hug your loved ones while you can. Make time to take a break with them. Be playful. Be kind.

We've had an awful year and wish everyone a healthy and happy rest of the year.

With 60+ leaders in the room, it was a great day for the senior leaders of IGO Ltd to connect, reflect, and be challenged on their own leadership habits.

Great to see some of the leaders we know well and to connect with dozens of others.

Thanks for welcoming Team Buffalo to challenge the group.

What a fantastic achievement and journey. Thank you for letting us be a part of it 😃 Spay It Forward by WA Pet Project

🎉🎉Today is a MILESTONE day🎉🎉🎉

We've been waiting just over 5 years for this announcement:

Spay It Forward has now desexed over 1,000 cats and dogs all across WA🎉🌟🐾❤️

There are so many volunteers, organisations, businesses, donors, and contributors that it'll be hard to mention and thank them all, but we'll give it a go:

WA Pet Project our parent organisation, The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development for the Animal Welfare - Round 1 grant that has significantly changed the way we operate with $50,000 granted to us this year, SavourLife for granting us $10,000 to desex female dogs in WA, Team Buffalo a small business acting proactively and who donated generously to help us desex female cats in WA, and the Vida Group's Grant Program that kicked this all off - thank you for making our dream a reality.

To the numerous volunteers that help with transport, collecting and organising cat carriers, and planning logistics - thank you. We've helped families with 1,000's of kilometres driven.

To the team behind the scenes that helps run this program - our president, vetwork coordinator, and treasurer - thank you. This is a small team working wonders!

To all the donors that give your hard-earned dollars to help stop unwanted litters being born in WA - thank you from the bottom of our hearts💛

Thank you to our current, and THE BEST, vet partners:
Challenger Veterinary Hospital
Atwell Aubin Grove Vet
Swan Valley Vet Centre
Wembley Veterinary Hospital
Banksia Grove Veterinary Hospital
Greenwood Veterinary Clinic
Heartlands Veterinary Hospitals

FINALLY, thank you to Nikki and John doing some serious transport kilometers for the animals desexed today and especially Boo and Tilly who are SIF999 and SIF1000.

Please help us keep our important, lifesaving work. All donations over $2 are tax deductible:

Drawing the future?

Yesterday was the third instance of my recently created Drawn To Success event. Participants use a canvas and are taken through a facilitated visioning exercise. Yesterday’s session was at The Edge for the Youth Services team at City of Joondalup

The energy was off the charts and people took away insights about where they are focussed and where they need more attention.

Who doesn’t love building kicka$$ teams?

Two days on site full of coaching and leadership development with the legends at Nova.

Thank you to Matthew and Marie for having me out to challenge and uplift the team from great to exceptional. Till next time.

I'm doing a weekly series focused on crappy leadership advice.

Why? These hinder real growth and create dysfunctional workplaces. Not going to fly!

Here's tip #1

For clarity, I'm not saying make people unhappy. I'm saying start with the other items, and happiness will follow. It's an outcome, not the goal.

This is the feedback from a senior leader undergoing coaching with us (you can see the full review on our google profile). She achieved the goals we set in the program (of course she did!)

At the end of the year, before people start rolling out big resolutions, we offer a New Year reset program comprising 4 coaching sessions, including a goal-setting process using our custom-developed goal and habit tracker.

Why not reset your focus and get your leadership (and self) fighting fit for the new year?

Shoot me a message for more detail. Future you will love you for it.

The trap leaders and teams fall into is favouring comfort over progress.

Comfort breeds mediocrity and is the precursor of missed goals.

You shouldn't go out and cause chaos, but not doing the difficult things today will have a measurable impact on tomorrow.

Take steps to do the hard things today and break out of your comfort zone.

This is the most challenging thing to change, but the highest yield in terms of growth.

No one likes this answer because you can't buy it (though coaching makes a huge impact), you can't force it upon your team, and you can't snap your fingers to make it happen.

If you're unhappy with your current progress and career, this is THE place to start.

Why am I sharing this?

This was the scene in the kick@ss team's workshop on day 3 of the annual planning session for the legends at Collective Shift.

I work with hundreds of leaders a year in workshops and 1-to-1 coaching, but there are a few key things I look for in any team to see how high performing they are:

1. Having fun while pushing to the next level of growth/strategy

2. Ability to have uncomfortable conversations while parking egos

3. Willingness to objectively review where we've been but not let it skew where we are going

There are many more behaviours, but when you see this level of energy and these behaviours on day 3, you know they are set up for success and ready to climb the next mountain.

These guys have it, but how are your team going with the behaviours above?

A fantastic week of strategy with the .io team as they continue to scale. Glad to be part of the journey for 3 years now. Big things coming!
