Last week, our team came together for Dorado’s annual planning day, something we look forward to each year.
It’s a chance to pause, connect across offices, and work through the challenges and opportunities shaping our industry. From market shifts to internal goals, these full-day strategy sessions give us the space to think big and align as one team.
A real highlight from this year’s session was the launch of our updated company values. We spent time reflecting on what they mean in practice, and how they’ll guide us through the next chapter of growth.
Clear values. Shared goals. Honest conversations.
That’s what these days are all about.
Thanks team, for another great planning day!

In early 2024, first mortgage funding was provided to assist with the development of 101 residential land lots on 9.8 hectares of land in Champion Lakes, Western Australia.
This development is part of a larger project that Dorado has helped to fund Stage One of previously. Dorado’s funding enabled the development of Stages Two and Three of the project.
Funds were returned to investors after 18 months, with full return of capital and interest.

To us, agility is about readiness. The ability to move quickly when it matters, but with thought and intention.
The property landscape shifts often and so do our clients' needs. That’s why we’ve built a team and a process that can adapt. Whether it's restructuring a deal, embracing new technology, or seizing an unexpected opportunity, we stay flexible without compromising quality.
Agility is a mindset and it’s one that’s helped us deliver consistent outcomes in an unpredictable market.

A value thats deeply embedded in our culture: Straightforward.
In an industry full of complexity, we’ve always aimed to be the kind of partner who simplifies things, without oversimplifying. We’re clear, honest, and open in our communication, and we don’t overpromise.
There are times when that means saying “no” or setting boundaries early, but we believe that long-term trust is more important than short-term gain.
To us, being straightforward means:
✔ Explaining the risks alongside the opportunities
✔ Communicating clearly and respectfully
✔ Setting realistic expectations
✔ Delivering exactly what we say we will
It’s not flashy, and it’s not always easy but it’s one of the reasons partners come back to us again and again.

It’s a tough reality to face: 80% of employees feel stretched to their limit, yet 53% of leaders still say productivity needs to increase.
It shows just how much pressure teams are under, and how wide the gap has grown between expectations and capacity.
This is where AI, when implemented thoughtfully, can help bridge the gap, allowing employees to focus on higher-value work while AI agents handle routine tasks.
How is your organisation finding balance?

Dorado recently provided first mortgage funding as an equity release against a 50,391 sqm land lot intended for future subdivision.
This facilitated the purchase of a five bed, two bath house by the Aboriginal Christian Church Teaching Centre of Western Australia.
This house is fit for purpose and allows them to provide greater services to the community now, rather than waiting for the sale of the land holding in 18 months.

“After observing those who remained with the company, and those that didn’t, it was their ‘cultural DNA’ that demonstrated who ‘got us’ and could thrive in the organisation.”
– Thomas McClung, Managing Director, Dorado
Building a strong team goes beyond finding the right skills on paper, it’s about identifying the people who truly connect with your culture and vision.
In Thomas's recent article for WA Business News, he reflects on how Dorado’s recruitment approach has evolved to prioritise cultural fit as a key part of building an engaged, high-performing team.

As we reflect on the projects that brought us to $1 billion in capital deployed earlier this year, La Vue Apartments in Balmoral, Queensland stands out.
In November 2024, two of Dorado’s long-standing borrowers, now joint development partners received approval for their largest project to date: a four-storey luxury development comprising six high-end apartments, designed to take full advantage of panoramic Brisbane city views.
Choosing Dorado for this milestone development meant partnering with a funder they already knew and trusted. In turn, we backed their vision, their capability, and the strength of the consultant team they assembled to deliver it.
With first mortgage funding from Dorado, the project has transitioned swiftly from approval to ex*****on:
✔ Demolition is complete
✔ The site is fully established
✔ Piling rigs and excavators are on site, with platforms in place for the next phase
At Dorado, we’re proud to back trusted partners who share our commitment to quality and precision and to support the delivery of premium residential projects in high-demand locations.
