Friendly reminder that health and temperament issues can still pop up in the most well bred rats and it's beyond us breeders control. We sadly cannot eradicate every single health or temperament issue, no matter how much we want to. That does not mean we are bad breeders. The expectation that breeder rats are perfect and you'll never encounter any problems is incorrect. It can, and does happen, but at a lower percentage than rats that aren't well bred.

Health issues, temperament issues, hormonal aggression requiring castration, can happen in the best breeding lines. Reputable breeder rats does not always equal perfect, problem free rats. The chances of issues are less, but not zero.

Please don't blame your breeder and make them feel like crap for things that are sadly beyond their control because you had unrealistic expectations and assumptions. Rat groups are the worst for this.

Also, if you're complaining your rats aren't cuddly enough and blaming your breeder, that's obscene. Personally, my rats are energetic, cheeky, and adventurous. They are people obsessed and love human interaction, but will not sit on you for hours on end sleeping. Some will have a cuddle here and there, but for the most part they love to explore. They have personality, they are not potato rats with nothing in-between the ears. Not all rats are cuddly, not all rats want human interaction 24/7, some rats are more ratty rats and just like to go about their daily ratty business - they're all individuals and have their own personalities which again, can be controlled to some extent but not 100%. So if you're looking for rats that sit and do nothing, Scevilles probably aren't for you.
