Annual Parent Evening
Last week, we welcomed our families into the service for our Annual Parent Evening. This after-hours event provided an opportunity for families to connect with educators and discuss their child/ren’s learning, development and overall journey at Mullaloo.
Families were also invited to reflect on our service, sharing what they feel we are doing well and identifying areas where we can continue to grow and improve. Through our feedback forms and QIP reflection stations, families were able to contribute their perspectives and ideas to our ongoing improvement.
It was a lovely evening connecting with our families and strengthening the partnerships that support our children’s learning and development.

As our Annual Parent Evening approaches, we have created a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) Reflection Station for our families to explore. This space provides an opportunity to share your thoughts through simple yes/no questions, as well as more in-depth feedback about your experiences and ideas.
At Tall Tree Mullaloo, we value strong family partnerships and meaningful community connections. Your voice plays an important role in shaping our continuous improvement journey, and we genuinely appreciate your feedback.
Please leave your mark, we'd love to hear from you!

Our Kwila children have continued their regular excursions to the local park, providing opportunities to move their bodies, build confidence and connect with the community around them. These outings encourage children to develop their gross motor skills as they climb, balance, run and explore a variety of play spaces, while also strengthening road safety awareness and their understanding of the local environment. We love getting out for adventures and making the most of the wonderful community spaces around us!

As part of our ongoing Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) journey, our service has welcomed a Museum in a Box resource kit, generously loaned by the Wanneroo Museum. Designed in consultation with local Aboriginal educators, these resources support children's understanding of contemporary Aboriginal cultures and histories, with a particular focus on Noongar culture.
Today, Miss Grace visited the Kwila room to facilitate discussions and sensory exploration using the collection. Children were invited to engage with a range of tactile resources, stories and artefacts, encouraging curiosity, respectful conversations and meaningful connections to Aboriginal perspectives.
One of the commitments within our RAP is the development of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Library. This resource box has already provided valuable inspiration, introducing us to beautiful stories that we hope to add permanently to our collection so children can continue exploring these perspectives throughout the year.
We are fortunate to have this resource available for the next month, and families are warmly invited to explore it with their children. Please enjoy the collection and ensure all resources are handled with care so they can continue to be shared with others in our community.

Our Kwilena children have recently followed a journey of inquiry into dolphins, known as, Kwilena in Noongar language. Through discussions, books, sensory play and creative experiences, children have explored where dolphins live, the ocean environments they call home, and the unique features and behaviours that make them such fascinating marine animals. This inquiry has continued through our sensory tray and dolphin sculpture experiences, where children represented their developing understandings using a range of materials. Below are a few magic moments captured throughout this learning journey. How awesome!
Fun Fact:
Kwilena is the Noongar word for dolphin. Dolphins are highly social mammals that live in groups called pods and use clicks, whistles and body movements to communicate with one another while navigating and hunting in the ocean.

Our Kwilena learners were recently invited to engage in a beautiful and immersive provocation thoughtfully curated by Room Leader Jen, exploring native flora through a range of sensory and creative experiences. Children were encouraged to investigate and connect with natural materials using multiple mediums including felt representations, images, tactile resources and opportunities to engage with the scents of native plants.
The experience provided space for curiosity, questions and meaningful discussion as children shared their observations, theories and prior knowledge about the plants and their environment. Extending on this exploration, children embraced their creative side by creating observational drawings, carefully noticing details, textures, shapes and patterns within the flora they encountered.
This rich learning experience supported children's sense of wonder and inquiry while fostering observation skills, language development and a deeper appreciation for the natural world that surrounds us.

Today we celebrated Pyjama Day at Tall Tree Mullaloo, with both educators and children arriving in their comfiest outfits ready for a cosy and fun-filled day together! The service was filled with excitement as children proudly shared their pyjamas, slippers and favourite comforters and teddies with their friends and educators. Pyjama Day provided a wonderful opportunity to foster a sense of belonging, connection and community, while creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere for play, learning and laughter throughout the day.
