Local organisations play an important role in Pilbara communities, delivering community services that respond to local needs.
🎀 Last week, members of our Pilgangoora team attended the Pink Pilbara Breakfast, hosted by Hedland Well Women's Centre and supported through the PLS Community Grants Program. The event raises funds for local cancer prevention and support services for women and families in the Hedland community.
🏆 PLS also sponsored the Pilbara Heart of Inclusion Award at the Pilbara Community Services Excellence Awards, with our Manager Mining, Steven Flett, presenting the award.
Congratulations to Ear Foundation Australia on receiving the award for its work helping children across the region access ear health care.
As a long-term PLS community partner, Ear Foundation provides ear screening, diagnosis and treatment services for Aboriginal and at-risk children.
Through our partnership with Teach Learn Grow, students across Pilbara communities are building skills and confidence through free, one-on-one maths and STEM tutoring delivered by trained university volunteers 📚
In the last 12 months, 65 volunteers delivered more than 1,313 hours of tutoring and mentoring to 183 students across five schools.
Every participating student achieved understanding or significant improvement in their educational outcomes, while 96% reported they were better at mathematics after the program 🙌

Meet Tim, one of the faces behind our Mid-Stream Demonstration Plant 👋
Tim is our Production Manager for Mid-Stream and a metallurgist who's always been driven to understand the "why" behind how things work.
That curiosity led him to metallurgy and, eventually, to this first-of-its-kind project at Pilgangoora.

What better way to understand someone's job than seeing it for yourself? 💙👷♀️
Last weekend, we welcomed 92 family members to Pilgangoora for our annual Family Day, giving our loved ones the chance to experience site firsthand.
From touring the operation and exploring equipment displays to testing their skills on our mining simulators, guests got a behind-the-scenes look at the people and machinery that keep Pilgangoora running.
One of the highlights was seeing the operation through fresh eyes and sharing a workplace our people are proud to be part of.
Thanks to everyone who joined us and helped make the day a great success 🙌

More Port Hedland students will be able to take part in the Follow the Dream program through our new partnership with the Polly Farmer Foundation🤝
We’re investing $180,000 over three years to expand the program, creating more places for local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Follow the Dream provides academic support, mentoring and STEM learning opportunities, grounded in culture and community.
It was great to join students, families and the Polly Farmer Foundation team yesterday to launch the partnership.

Our 2026 Annual Sustainability Reporting suite is now available, showcasing the progress we've made across the sustainability priorities that matter most to our people, communities and business.
In FY26, we invested $2.5M in initiatives that support the Western Australian communities where we live and work, including Port Hedland, Yandeyarra, Warralong and Strelley, with a focus on education, community resilience and the energy transition 🤝⚡
We also increased our spend with First Nations businesses by 24% to $38M, creating opportunities and shared value with Traditional Owners and local communities 🖤💛❤️

Big congratulations to the recipients of our 2026 Community Grants Program! 🎉
This year, more than $114,000 has been awarded to 12 community-led projects that are making a difference across the Pilbara.
This week, we caught up with several grant recipients, including Pilbara Community Services Ltd, Pilbara Music Festival and Youth Involvement Council Inc., to hear more about their projects and the impact they'll have across the region.
