Let's bust this myth:

Clear vision doesn't equal good vision.

Unlike farsightedness...

Or nearsightedness...

Or even astigmatism...

Binocular vision dysfunction (BVD) doesn't affect how clearly you see.

But it affects how you function.

And it makes your life more complicated than it should be.

Prism lenses and vision therapy could possibly help you...

Follow EyeSense Vision to learn more about vision-related symptoms and behaviours.

Up to 70% of your vision is thanks to your brain.

Yes, your eyes help you see clearly.

But interpretation, coordination, balance, focus…

That’s all your brain.

Even the muscles around your eyes…

All controlled by your brain.

If your brain and muscles don’t communicate properly…

(Like after suffering a concussion, for example)

Your eyes could struggle to work as a team…

Making it harder to focus.

Or to read.

Or to remember what you’ve read.

Or navigate busy spaces.

You could possibly even suffer from migraines.

Or be extremely light sensitive.

Or get motion sickness.

The slightest misalignment could have a big impact.

Because your healthy vision relies on your brain.

So, your eye tests should consider what your brain is doing, too.

EyeSense Vision has a special interest in behavioural and neurological optometry.

You have two eyes. 👀

(Or most people do.)

Ever wondered why that is?

Because yes, you can still see with one eye. But there’s a big shift when your eyes don’t work together.

This is where binocular vision comes into play.

Binocular vision simply means you have two eyes that you use at the same time.

But you're probably thinking "I always use both my eyes"

Well, not necessarily.

Your eyes and brain work as a team. Your left and right eye send a slightly different image to your brain. Your brain merges those images so you can correctly perceive the world around you.

It contributes to:

🔷 Depth perception
🔷 Coordination
🔷 Spatial awareness
🔷 Balance
🔷 Processing visual information
🔷 Judging distances

If your eyes are just a little bit misaligned, or they struggle to stay aligned, your brain has a hard time.

So, your brain compensates by:

🔷 Overworking eye muscles
🔷 Ignoring one eye
🔷 Developing a head tilt to stabilise your vision

This is called binocular vision dysfunction or binocular vision disorder.

BVD could lead to symptoms you wouldn’t necessarily associate with your vision:

Headaches, eye strain, dizziness, poor concentration, fatigue…

In the next couple of weeks, we’ll cover some of these symptoms and why you’re experiencing them.

As a small business owner, I've experienced the impact of supporting local.

And telling your world about your experience makes a difference.

This morning, my family and I took the route south to visit Teddy & Co in South Perth.

Our kiddies loved it. 😍

And the teddy bears received many cuddles during our visit.

Top that off with some delicious Vietnamese coffee and scrumptious bites, and this was a win for us. Well worth it.

Pop in with your kids when you get the chance.
