A Splash of Head of the River History π£ββοΈ
Like generations of MLC rowers before them, our girls will take to the water tomorrow to compete in the 2026 Head of the River.
Months of early mornings, cold starts, and unwavering commitment have led to this moment. Their preparation has been shaped by determination, resilience, teamwork, and pride both on and off the water.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped make this season possible - our Collegian Rowers who return to the boats to row alongside the girls, our dedicated staff whose guidance and encouragement never wavers, and our incredible MLC Rowing Club whose support underpins every stroke π
As we look back on past regattas, we celebrate the strength of our rowing tradition and the community behind it.
To all our girls and Collegians racing today, we wish you the very best of luck. MLC is with you every stroke of the way πͺπ

π The Power of a Needs-Based Scholarship - Be Part of It Before 30 June πβ
"A scholarship is more than an opportunity. It tells someone that they belong, and that there are people who believe in them."
When Kate Kirwin (Class of 2010) arrived at MLC on a scholarship, she came from Bunbury with curiosity, ambition, and a world of opportunity ahead of her.
Starting a new school in a new city was a big step, but it became the beginning of something life-shaping - a place where she found her feet, her confidence, and a growing sense of belonging.
That scholarship didnβt just support her education - it helped open doors she would one day open for others.
Today, Kate is the Founder & CEO of She Codes Australia, an MLC Foundation Board Member, and the 2024 WA Young Australian of the Year. Through her work, she has helped more than 12,000 women step into the world of technology and possibility.
Now, sheβs helping create that same opening for the next generation.
Our Shape Her Future Annual Tax Appeal will fund a Year 7 scholarship recipient all the way through to Year 12 - giving one young girl six years of belonging, growth, and opportunity at MLC.
With just days until 30 June, your tax-deductible gift can help open the door for a girl whose future is full of promise.

This week we celebrated National Archives Day, and what better way to mark the occasion than by sharing a fascinating piece of MLC history from our collection π β
β
These architectural plans are just two of more than 4,000 drawings that were carefully assessed, documented and digitised over a five-year period. They document Burnside House, also known as Craigmuir, the original family residence of Judge Burnside.β
β
Following Judge Burnside's death in 1929, MLC purchased the house and remaining property from the Burnside family.β
β
While much has changed since these plans were drawn in 1888, Burnside House still stands proudly on campus today.β
