"Last week, I completed my Abel Tasman trip, and honestly, it felt like a proper holiday from start to finish. The weather turned it on every single day, which made such a difference to the whole experience.

I ended up swimming pretty much daily: the water was too good to resist and the coastal views were absolutely unreal the entire way.

It wasn’t completely pain-free, though… I got a pretty bad case of blisters, which definitely slowed me down at times. Thankfully, my Teva sandals came in clutch and saved my feet for most of the trip.

One of the best parts was the people. I met so many awesome humans from all over New Zealand and different parts of the world, which made the huts and track feel really social and fun.

Now that I’m home, I genuinely miss it. I’d go back and do the whole thing again in a heartbeat."

Good news: our meals have a best-before date of 4 years, so chances are you're still good to go! We've done the advanced shelf-life testing so you don't have to, and while flavour starts to fade a little after 5 years, they're still safe to eat.

After mincing and cooking, we dice our meat into this shape for two reasons: it rehydrates faster (because nobody wants crunchy meat 😅) and it gives you a satisfying, home-cooked-sized forkful in every bite.

"We set out on an ambitious plan to climb Mt Sefton from the Karangarua and then cross down into the Copland valley and make a loop out of it.

At the car park, we weighed our bags to be 25kg each. We spent 6 days walking through the West Coast jungle, bush bashing through scrub, rock scrambling, and walking across some amazing glaciated terrain.

On our 5th day, we managed to get to the top with some exceptional views across the southern alps and down into Mount Cook Village, which looked so tiny from above.

On this trip, we only walked 74km across, but we did over 4500m in vert, making it quite the adventure."
