ADHD in women is so often overlooked. So often attributed to other things like depression, anxiety or personality flaws.
It's honestly a little heartbreaking.
This article had me teary just two paragraphs in. It's relatable. Painfully relatable.
If you're someone either seeking a diagnosis later in life or have a diagnosis later in life and you're feeling alone in the experience, you're not alone in both the experience itself, and the feeling of being alone.
This article is a really worthwhile read.
The lost girls: ‘Chaotic and curious, women with ADHD all have missed red flags that haunt us’ After multiple burnouts, in my early 30s I finally knew why life sometimes felt harder for me. It made perfect sense, so why had no one noticed before?

Great read from ABC on ADHD.
There are so many anecdotes here that resonate with the ADHD experience. Here is one that I found particularly relatable:
"At first, with my diagnosis, I was like: 'Am I me? Or is my personality a property of my symptoms?'" - Scott Wynands.
Realizing so many of your behaviors, thoughts and social processes can be attributed to symptoms of ADHD can be really conflicting to navigate. You feel relief when the things you consider negative about yourself like being forgetful, late, or disorganized to actually be explained by ADHD. Then you feel lost when you start to consider if your creativity, your spontaneity, and your deep empathy for others might also be ADHD.
It can be quite common to have some sort of identity crisis after receiving an ADHD diagnosis. If this is something you would like support with, reach out to us at Zoned In, we walk alongside our clients as they navigate the uncharted waters of ADHD in their life to find new shores of understanding and prosperity.
Scott 'lost lots of jobs' because of ADHD. He wants others to know what the condition is like As a child Scott Wynands was "very hot tempered" and inquisitive — once putting a sandwich in a VHS player — but being diagnosed with ADHD at 43 helped him make sense of his life's trajectory.

Do you always get mystery bruises? Have you been in a few car accidents? Did you break more bones than your siblings/friends as a kid and think of yourself as clumsy?
If you have ADHD, it might be playing a part in those accidents.
ADHD is a serious condition, and it's a real condition. Addressing ADHD through medical treatment has the most significant, beneficial, treatment outcomes, and Zoned In, as a coaching service, strongly encouraged anyone seeking treatment for their ADHD to seek advice and consultation from medical professionals.
