World Continence Week | Breaking the Stigma, Supporting Better Living

This week is World Continence Week, an opportunity to raise awareness about bladder and bowel health and encourage open conversations about a condition that affects more than five million Australians.

Incontinence is common, but it should never prevent someone from living with dignity, confidence, and independence. With the right support and advice, people can continue enjoying the activities they love while remaining safe and comfortable at home.

At Home Caring South Perth, we understand that continence care is personal. Our compassionate team provides respectful, discreet, and individualised support to help our clients maintain their independence and quality of life in the comfort of their own homes.

If you or a loved one would like to learn more about the support available through the Support at Home program or a Home Care Package, we're here to help.

📞 Contact our friendly team today on 1300 853 896 to discuss how we can support you.

As the weather gets colder, it's important to be aware that winter can increase the risk of falls for older Australians.

Wet surfaces, darker mornings and evenings, slippery footwear, and reduced physical activity can all contribute to an increased falls risk.

Here are a few simple ways to stay safe this winter:

✅ Wear supportive, non-slip footwear
✅ Keep walkways clear of clutter
✅ Ensure outdoor paths are well lit
✅ Take extra care on wet surfaces
✅ Stay active to maintain strength and balance
✅ Have regular health checks, including vision and medication reviews

At Home Caring South Perth, we work with our clients to identify potential hazards around the home and support them to remain safe, independent and confident throughout the year.

If you or a loved one would benefit from assistance at home, transport to appointments, social support, or a falls risk assessment by one of our nurses, we'd be happy to help.

Stay warm, stay active and stay safe this winter.

Helping Our Clients Continue Doing the Things They Love

One of our lovely clients recently shared how much she enjoys her weekly outings with her regular support worker.

What starts as a trip to the local shops has become something she looks forward to every week. Together they browse her favourite stores, pick up a few essentials, and finish the morning with a coffee and a chat at a local café.

While these outings may seem simple, they provide so much more than practical assistance. They help maintain independence, encourage social connection, and bring joy and routine to each week.

At Home Caring South Perth, we understand that quality care isn't just about helping around the home—it's about supporting people to continue living the life they enjoy.

We're proud to provide personalised support that focuses on each client's individual goals, interests and wellbeing.

A big thank you to our dedicated support workers who make moments like these possible every day.

If you or a loved one have a Home Care Package or Support at Home funding and would like to learn more about our services, we'd love to hear from you.

🧠💙 Dementia Action Week 2026 May 18th - 24th 💙🧠

This week is an important reminder that dementia affects not only the individual living with the condition, but also their families, carers, friends, and the wider community. Dementia is more than memory loss — it can impact thinking, communication, behaviour, emotions, and everyday activities.

In Australia, hundreds of thousands of people are living with dementia, and the number continues to grow. Raising awareness helps reduce stigma, encourages early support, and creates more dementia-friendly communities where people feel safe, respected, and included.

At Home Caring South Perth, we are passionate about providing compassionate, person-centred care that supports independence, dignity, and quality of life. We understand that every person’s journey with dementia is unique, which is why patience, understanding, and meaningful connection are at the heart of the care we provide every day.

This Dementia Action Week, we encourage everyone to:
💙 Learn more about dementia
💙 Show patience and kindness
💙 Support carers and families
💙 Help create inclusive communities
💙 Start conversations and raise awareness

Sometimes the smallest gestures — a smile, a calm conversation, or simply taking the time to listen — can make the biggest difference.

Together, we can build a more understanding and supportive community for people living with dementia. 💙

Had a very productive and meaningful Rotary Club meeting with the Morley Rotary Club members.

It’s always a privilege to connect with a group of people who are genuinely committed to service and strengthening our local community.

Today’s discussion included a really valuable Q&A around the Support at Home (SAH) program—particularly some of the common areas of confusion people are experiencing around how to access SAH, what the process looks like, and how switching providers works in practice. It was a great opportunity to share insights, clarify misconceptions, and talk through real-world challenges that clients and families are currently facing.

What stood out was the openness in the room and the willingness to better understand how we can work together across services to make the system more accessible and less overwhelming for the community. There was strong agreement that collaboration between providers, case managers, and community organisations is key to ensuring people get the right support at the right time.

Grateful for the thoughtful questions, shared experiences, and the collective focus on improving outcomes for the people we serve. Looking forward to continuing these conversations and turning ideas into practical support for the community through Morley Rotary Club.
