R U OK? A Conversation Can Change A Life!

Today, Scafwest are reaching out to all our employees by delivering KitKat's to each site. Even the smallest of gestures can change a life immensely. Depression and mental illness is a topic that relates strongly with our company and we hope that we can raise awareness and change a few lives.

Reach out and start a conversation with those in their world who may be struggling with life. You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener.

Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:

2. Listen
3. Encourage action
4. Check in

By starting a conversation, you could help that family member, friend or workmate open up. If they say they are not OK, you can follow steps to show them they’re supported and help them find strategies to better manage the load. If they are OK, that person will know you’re someone who cares enough to ask.

On Friday, Scafwest held a small gathering for the unveiling of our very own man-made scaffold blue tree in memory of Stephen "Birdy" Bird.

For three decades, Steve dedicated himself to building Scafwest with passion, vision and an unwavering drive to push the limits of what scaffolding could do and be.

Let this tree be a call to check in on your mates, your family, your co-workers. To listen. To support. To remind one another that no one should face their struggles alone.

Forever missed, always remembered. We are proud to carry on Birdy's legacy!

The tree is proudly planted at the front of Scafwest premises for anyone who would like to come see it in person and we will proudly will claim it as the biggest man-made blue tree in Australia.
