The Federal Government's Cheaper Home Batteries Program is changing from 1 May 2026 – and if you've been considering a battery, now's the time to act.

From that date, the rebate drops and moves to a tiered system. Batteries over 14kWh will be hit the hardest – capacity beyond that threshold will receive just 60% of the initial rebate amount. The sooner you install, the more you save.

With pre-approvals taking several weeks to come in, you only have the next couple of weeks to lock in your rebate amount and get your battery installed before the deadline. Don't leave it too late.
