Hi There,
Fuel has been a frequent topic of discussion over the past few weeks, so I wanted to reach out and provide a transparent update on what weβre seeing here in Western Australia and what weβre advising all customers currently on the road or with upcoming trips.
As it stands, there are no fuel shortages or supply issues in WA, and we are operating business as usual. I understand the news (the βfear machineβ) may be sending mixed messages, but locally things remain stable.
From what weβre seeing, this appears to be a short-term blip driven largely by a knee-jerk reaction - people filling up more than usual due to concerns around supply. This spike in demand has pushed prices up quite quickly (roughly $1/L in a short period), however fuel supply itself remains consistent, with no disruption to shipments into WA.
For peace of mind, our recommendation is simple:
Refuel at every major town or whenever the opportunity arises
Avoid letting your tank run too low, particularly in remote areas
All of our vehicles are equipped with a long-range 140L diesel tank (115L on the MUX models), which can comfortably achieve around 1,000km per tank. For added reassurance, we can also provide an additional 20L jerry can if youβd like that extra buffer.
For planning purposes, key refuelling points include:
Heading North:
Perth β Geraldton β Billabong / Overlander β Carnarvon β Minilya Roadhosue β Karratha β Port/South Hedland β Sandfire β Broome
Heading South:
Perth β Busselton β Bunbury β Margaret River β Denmark / Albany β Ravensthorpe β Esperance
Broome & NT:
Broome β Derby β Fitzroy Crossing β Halls Creek β Kununurra β Timber Creek β Katherine β Darwin
We are closely monitoring the situation both nationally and within WA. At present, we have around 10 vehicles on the road with no reported fuel supply issues, and weβll continue to keep you informed if anything changes.
Tips to Improve Fuel Efficiency
To help minimise fuel usage (and costs), we recommend:
Stick to speed limits - or better still slightly below where safe to do so (fuel consumption increases significantly at higher speeds)
Drive smoothly - avoid harsh acceleration and heavy braking
Limit unnecessary 4WD use - only engage when conditions require it
Keep tyre pressures appropriate for the terrain (lower in sand, but reinflate when back on sealed roads)
Reduce excess weight where possible and avoid carrying unnecessary gear.
We truly appreciate your trust in us and look forward to helping you explore Western Australia with confidence. If you have any questions at all, please donβt hesitate to reach out.
Regards,
Luke
