Hoondai Racing

It was a great day yesterday at Carco Raceway with so many other N owners from Perth. There was over 60 of us at the track, one guy even drove over from queensland to attend the day! Was good getting to follow close behind Josh Buchan (2x Australian TCR champion) and see the difference in his door to door style racing line versus my sprint racing style racing line. Hopefully now more Perth people have finally taken their N to the track we might see more turning up at events.

10 years ago this photo was taken at Carco Raceway, wanneroo. It was my first time at wanneroo, so I was doing a come and try day that involved a motorkhana session on the infield, a track session, and a hillclimb session using the Jacks Hill hillclimb course. I was on the infield doing the motorkhana course (ended up fastest on the day, faster than the instructor in his bmw m3 🤣) when the guy driving the Honda S2000 clipped the curb going through the esses and spun his car. He ended up sliding the whole way down the bank and put the car sideways into the concrete wall around the infield, damaging the car quite badly. This photo got entered into a competition that won me a day with V8SC driver Craig Lowndes, but I was away for work at the time, so gave the day to my uncle who had actually worked with Lowndes in Europe when he went to race f3000 in the 90s.

Down at CollieMotorplex today for a test and tune session. Got caught up in traffic and ended up going 3 cars wide down the back straight. Was definitely a fun day.

Was a pretty slippery day today at Jacks Hill racing the hillclimb. The track was extremely dusty thanks to the offroad course next door and covered in junk rubber from the drifters using the course. Was still a fun day, any day on the track is better than a day at work 😂

Raced the i30n in a Point to point event today at Wanneroo Raceway. Haven't run this layout before, had some very tight chicanes and the track was quite slippery, made you really need to be comfortable with your car to perform well. Stock standard family car racing with targa rally cars and other race cars and managed 3rd overall for the Wascc time challenge (accumulated times) and 4th overall for speed events (missed out by 0.2seconds on 3rd outright). Just crazy to think a stock family car can be so competitive against actual race cars.

Coming through turn 4 at wanneroo raceway on Saturday.

Went to wanneroo raceway with the I30N sedan on Saturday. It was my first time racing at wanneroo in the N and my first time there in over 6 years in any car. Ended up first in class with a 67.2second lap, 2nd place was a mercedes a45 AMG with a best lap of 67.8seconds. The N definitely has a 66second lap in it with some fresh brakes and a few tyre pressure adjustments. Might have to swap the Advan AD09 rubber to some actual semi slicks one day and see what it does.
