What a race that was!! 38 Cars battled it out at CARCO.com.au Raceway for the BEERS - Budget Extreme Endurance Racing Series 24hr race 2025. There was plenty of carnage and action, not to mention moments for people to hone in on their fire extinguishing skills.

A total of 779 laps were completed, coincidentally the same as last years 24hr race. Great work team!

Another race under the belt of the mighty 3.0 H6 Legacy… I’m happy to report my garage rebuild of the 6 speed survived the race with synchros intact.
During the start of the race the rear oem differential bushes collapsed dropping the diff and CV onto the hot exhaust. This resulted in a rapid loss of CV grease… not much could be done here so we just crossed our fingers and hoped it could survive another 15 hours of racing.
Unfortunately checking the fluids after the final lap found the radiator overflow reservoir empty and radiator level below the fins, even though it was normal a few hours before. Despite this, it drove back to it’s workshop after a quick top up.
Admittedly I think we are quite impressed with what this engine has done for us, coming into the racing life at 200K Km and completing a combined 1318km of hard racing at Collie Motorplex and 3756km at Carco Raceway. The previous 24hr race resulted in a decent loss of water due to a damaged hose, but it still powered through this race for us.
Will it give us another race!?

Let’s see what these cars can do!!

Well we are back at it for 2025 and so far it looks like we’ll make it to the 24Hr Race at Carco Raceway Wanneroo in June. Completed a quick test run of the rebuilt gearbox lastnight and a cooling system flush, I’m pleased to say we have all our gears back again. However we’ll have to let Jason our seasoned gearbox tester be the judge of that.

Last year’s 24Hr race resulted in 4th gear Syncros turning to glitter and 5th just barely lasting the final hour. With all new Syncros and associated parts from 3rd-6th let’s see how long this glitter maker lasts…

Now a few final small repairs and we will see you all out there.

What an awesome event! The Subi completed the 24hr race with minimal issues, well minus 4th gear… who needs your main driving gear right?!

The Subaru burnt just over 500 litres of fuel, 7 litres of oil and a syncro to complete 779 laps or 1878km in 24hrs.

Was great to see all the usual teams out there giving it their best, no matter what challenge appeared from the depths of the oily engine bays.

This morning we took the Subaru down for scrutineering in preparation for the next race. Which will entail 24hrs of non stop racing fun… assuming nothing grenades, incinerates or implodes we will be happy!! It will be interesting to try the car out at Wanneroo Raceway on Friday 28th - Saturday 29th June 2024.

Day 2: An action filled day for everyone out on the track! Wheels falling off, broken cv axles, blown head gaskets, knocking rods, blown turbos, oil spills, broken engine mounts and cars not staying on the track 🙈 that footage comes later…
A big thanks to the Subaru team that gave us one of their spare CV axles so we could get back on the road, you are legends!

Day 1: practice day is over.
A few gremlins have been dealt with. From a mystery accelerator pedal correlation fault, hopefully a simple recalibration solves this for now, but time will tell.
Engine temperatures were reaching 100c (10c higher than usual) when going over 6k rpm, most likely due to the warmer weather and the old thermostat that was restricting the coolant flow.
Quick fix Thermostat = 🚮
The boys worked on getting the suspension and tire pressures dialled in for the new setup. Great work fellas!
