Flyfishing Australia and New Zealand. It doesn't get any better than this!

Australia extends from the tropical north of Cape York and the Northern Territory through to Tasmania in the south. Then it’s a short way over the Tasman Sea (the Ditch) to the world’s best trout fishery. There is so much to do down under, and our aim is to make sure that you make the best of your available fishing time. Many visitors to Australia travel to the high profile tourist areas of Sydney

Reaching out to the flyfishing community. Do you have a young up and coming flyfisher who is passionate about flyfishing but a bit strapped for cash to get the right gear?

For those chasing trout here is a set of my wife's waders and boots. Sure they are used but if the size fits there is a season left in them.

Details:

Wading Boots Reddington Size US 7; Uk 5 or EU 38 (make sure their foot is a size or 2 smaller)
Waders Size XS Sock size about 23 cm heel to toe, waist size about 45 cm

Might suit a club wanting to have gear on hand to support some keen angler.

Here's the deal... I'll pack them up and post to a young flyfisher or aspiring to be flyfisher, all that I need is a name and address and maybe some background. The only other ask is a future photo posted so I can show Sue her gear is helping the future of flyfishing :)

Will allocate to the most worthy.

Our Spirit of Tasmania return trip was "rock you to sleep" calm. If anyone has questions about travelling on the Spirit please ask away. Its our 5th trip now so we have some insights.

So now in Mitta Mitta Victoria and exploring the region. Some success in Lake Banimboola as expected, Mitta Mitta River next, its flowing well. Some decent fish showing.

Images of the North West.. we ventured to home of the big surf Marrawah while camped at Montagu which is one of those untouched fishing destinations, an incredible experience. A wide array of fish and we had incredible calamari one night followed by mixed reef the next. Then after Montagu a stay in Boat Harbour ... those lounges on the hill providing for a $Million happy hour. 😊

Turning to the salt, Douglas River then NW Tasmania at Montagu ..if only the wind would drop 😉

It has been an interesting journey south far. The fishing in the central highlands difficult with moments of dry fly brilliance.

A highlight being Wayatinah where we stayed at the Wayatinah Lakeside Caravan Park. https://share.google/uq4QJ9MK9VsubzFoA. Superbly run by Coral and Mark. If you don't fish you'll love the central happy hours at the bar

Classic dry fly in this shallow waterways, certainly a highlight. Fish were well conditioned and rising freely.

As to the flyfishing..a few clues in the pics some of which were at Dee Lagoon.

What a difference a lake makes! We just relocated to our favourite camp on Dee. After setting up thevan I wandered down and a reasonable Brown took a Red Spinner.

Serious question that seeks answers based on experience and local knowledge.

In Tasmania for the last month and have generally found fishing difficult.

General observations:
Insects are prolific. Caddis, Red Spinners, Beetles, Jassids and more. Hatches have been regular. Water temperature in a reasonable comfort zone of around 15 degrees. Could be a little cooler Wind and rain haven't been big detractors Different lakes seem to be experiencing the same issue. Leake, Bronte, Talbots. There was even a noticeable lack of activity on Pine Tier with all the small fish. On Bronte reports are that fish are deep and well conditioned. On Bronte again small fish rise around 1730hrs Splashy, porpoising etc. Seem to be chasing rapid emergers. I few takes on Shaving Brush with a fish on momentarily but generally not interested or more so very focused on what they are feeding on. Mornings are quiet without the rise.

I have tried just about every trick in the book and reports from others indicate a similar situation.

Thus the question is for any suggestions or advice as to cracking this code?
