Aussie Fisherman

I got back this afternoon from 2 days away fishing in South East QLD. Fishing was really tough this time out, I think due to the amount of run and volume of water flowing in and out of the creeks did not allow us to fish the likely spots slowly enough. Ended up with the 45 cm Jack on a ZMan black back 4 inch swimmerZ on a 3/8 ounce snake head jig head.
I have found the Zman range and the jig head configuration to be dynamite on the jacks and they hit them hard. The advantage of the setup is the hook is placed in the lure (referred to as "weedless"), making it nearly impossible to snag up and allow the lure to be cast in all sorts of nooks and crannys, which are where the prominent predators hang out.
The SwimmerZ are also super durable, and I now have used both the black back and the red shad and caught approximately 15 fish on each lure and still have them rigged up and ready to cast again.
Super gluing the heads on can be tedious, but its really only after you have a hit or land a fish that they unglue, so it cant be all bad.
After being stranded on a sand bank for 3 hours we had to amuse ourselves, so decided to wade through the mud to find fishable water. I hooked and dropped an approximate 50 cm Jack off the bank, close to some gnarly structure and fishing partner landed close to 15 flathead on the bottom of the tide.
Tidal variation is the key to much of the fishing I do and the difference between the high and low determines the volume of water in and out of the creek and tidal flow. When the new and full moon are prominent and the tidal flow is strong, it doesn't allow lures to spend quality time in the strike zone and can limit success.
We trolled for a fair portion of the time, and I must admit its not the most exciting form of fishing , but it does get the runs on the board. Lures trolled were mainly 3 metre versions of the Killalure, Halco Scorpion and Vipers mainly targeting barra but without success.

45 cm Z man yesterday

Love it when i am looking at new spots to fish and the first snag i see has 2 good jacks hanging in tight close to the bank and a school of very nervous mullet hanging off the end of the snag.

Looking forward to fishing next weekend chasing some Barra in South East Queensland.
