Merredin Military Museum

This is the answer sheet to our Junior Code Breaker activity pack. Available from the Museum when you visit. Great activity for the kids while travelling.

Huge thank you to Steve and Brenda. Called in for a visit and then stayed for four days helping out. No job was too hard, mechanical, restoration, cleaning and painting. Even with the temperature hitting 40 yesterday, they kept going. We thank you for your attitude and wish you safe travels.

Merredin had a roll in the manufacture of Bren Gun Carriers by the State Engineering Works during WWII.
The rough cast bogie wheels were railed to Merredin for machining and then railed back when done. The museum has the lathe used for this job on display.

Collected a full size replica Tigermoth today. Donated by Lynne Mathews, Her husband Frank(Dec.) built it many years ago. The crew took just 3 hours to pull it apart and load everything for the trip home. It will need some work before we can put it on display.

Last truck load of Catalina parts has arrived. A few real gems amongst the pile.Looks like there's going to be a lot of de riveting, reparing and rebuilding. If there's anyone who wants to help and spend some time on the tools, please let us know.

Congratulations to our wonderful volunteers, Mick, Vicki and Max on being nominated for the Community Citizen of the year award. Well deserved for all the years you've put in to making the museum what it is.

Just added this morning, the Jerry can story.
From the British "flimsie" through the original German can, the American cans and the British copy. Even got the pourers but missing the US Marine Corps version.
Over 21 million cans produced by the allies during WWII and the original design still in production today.

Finally. Only taking 30 years to restore! Boys Anti tank rifle, part salt lake recovery, some original parts and some remanufactured parts.
