Founded by Felicity Ford and Emily Direen, the group facilitates a dialogue between academia, industry professionals and Melbourne-based cinephiles.

The Light Trap is a Melbourne-based cinema reading group with a screening every third Tuesday featuring an eclectic mix of feature-length and short films followed by a Q&A or discussion. It is designed to foster insightful scholarship, allow for current projects to be presented and discussed in a supportive public space, and encourage the broader community to engage with a diverse range of films and research.
