This record was a pretty massive undertaking and there are so many beautiful people to thank who helped make it happen. .mack.music and .does.music.stuff for being amazing humans, treating our music with such care and keeping Jack and I motivated. mcwaters is the sweetest man in the business and he took on these ridiculous arrangements with gusto and pushed us both to make it better and better. This is probably the music that I’m most proud of and the amount of hours Cody poured into it made the work what it is now. I don’t think anyone else could have mixed this album.
for being band dad and kicking our ass when we needed it and believing in what we do from day one.
The girls from .band and for their beautiful voices. They are the angels singing on Emily and scattered throughout the record.
for playing trombone even though it’s a s**t instrument and he hates it (love u) and Tristan Rogers for playing trumpet and flugelhorn. Their improvisation at the end of Too Far Ahead came together in the studio and it was very magical. v.harley and for their string contributions which are really fundamental to the sound of this record.
And the master of mastering for putting the finishing touches on the thing.

Hey there, Pre-save link is up in the bio, for what I guess is our debut LP. Feels more like a Big EP.. Anyway, the silhouette on the cover, is my old band mate and our dear friend Robyn . I took it whilst I was at her place In Edinburgh in 2019. It was taken on this cheap 80s Minolta. I turned the flash off and figured a lot of film might be wasted. But also there might be a few surprises. This was one of them. It is a fitting cover as many of the songs were written around that time and a lot of the themes on the record are reflections on various friendships/relationships. Those people who come in and out of your life for a time. It will be available October 30th. Big love.

Album launch @ Lulie Tavern November 1st. It’s early one! Mousse cannon start at 4ish. We will be doing a split set of stripped back numbers and then album songs as a 5 piece. Our mate and worlds nicest dude Dean from drunk mums infamy, will be Djing with us till late. Playing free and easy tunes. Would love to see you there! Should be fun.

This whole record was a kind of exercise in maximalism. On the surface Emily is quite a sparse tune but it features a lot of people. The extraordinary ladies from .band feature in the vocal arrangement and their voices are angelic. The strings for Emily (and the whole record) are , and .v.harley and the session with them at was when I really heard the album coming together. Lots of tiny little details in Emily that we love…including Andrew reaching over the grand piano .studios to mute the D # and A # strings at the 1st harmonic while Cam played to get the ringing piano layer you can hear. This is one of my favourites from the record and one of the nicest tunes has written I reckon. .mcwaters did a lovely mix despite my annoying requests for edits late in the game as usual lol.
