Candour Strategy
Candour Strategy is a straight-talking Holistic Small Business Consultancy.
We help founders implement systems, and processes to increase profits without sacrificing work-life balance.
There is a fine balance when it comes to using AI in your business, and getting it wrong is more costly than not using it at all.
AI should be taking the pressure off you behind the scenes, handling the tasks that drain your time and headspace without adding value to the people you serve.
It should never be the thing standing between your customers and a genuine human experience.
The moment your clients feel like they are dealing with an automated system rather than a business that actually cares, you have crossed a line.
That is why before we implement anything, we map out your entire operation and look closely at where your time is really going.
What is eating your week, what is clogging your headspace, and what could be running on its own without anyone noticing the difference.
That is where AI belongs, and that is exactly where we put it.

Scaling a fitness business across multiple locations sounds like a success story. And it is, until the cracks start to show.
Van had built something genuinely special with Community Moves. A fitness community with real culture, loyal members, and a vision to grow.
But expansion had stretched his focus thin, standards were becoming harder to maintain across sites, and the systems that worked when it was one location were starting to buckle under the weight of three.
When a business grows faster than its structure, the thing that made it great in the first place is usually the first thing at risk.
We partnered with Van to build the operational architecture the business needed to scale without losing what made it worth scaling.
Replicable systems across sales, service, and operations. Financial discipline to protect margins.
Leadership coaching and accountability frameworks so Van could step fully into his role as owner rather than being pulled into every corner of the business. SOPs so nothing lived in one person's head anymore.
The member base grew by 46 percent and Community Moves now runs consistently across all three locations with the culture intact.
Growth is only as good as the foundation underneath it.

There is nothing quite like watching someone get ready to open the doors to their new business.
This review came directly from a client who is about to do exactly that.
Leigh and Judd have been working alongside them through the lead up to one of the biggest milestones of their professional life, making sure the foundations are solid, the systems are in place, and the confidence is there to walk into launch day ready.
To Stephanee, thank you for trusting us with such an important chapter. The pleasure has genuinely been ours, and we cannot wait to continue working with you throughout this process!

If you have ever sent a quote and immediately wondered whether you charged too little, you are not alone.
Picing without market data is one of the most common sore points we see in new businesses.
You want to be competitive but you do not want to undersell yourself, and without a clear benchmark to work from, every number you put forward feels like a gamble.
So most people default to low, telling themselves they will raise prices once they get established.
The problem is that pattern is incredibly hard to break. Underpricing attracts clients who expect underpricing, and before long you are fully booked, flat out, and still not making the money your work deserves.
The right number exists. It is sitting in the market data, in your cost structure, and in an honest assessment of the value you actually deliver.
Most new business owners just never get the chance to see it clearly before they start quoting.
Somewhere between 60 and 70 percent of Australian small businesses won't survive their first two years. That statistic sits with us every single day.
Because small businesses are not just economic contributors.
They are the fabric of Australian life. The family run cafe that knows your order, the independent boutique that actually has something different, the local operator who takes pride in every job.
They are what makes towns feel like towns and not just rows of the same stores repeated endlessly across the country.
Every one of those businesses was started by someone who had a vision and the courage to back it. The ones that don't make it rarely fail because the idea wasn't good enough.
They fail because running a business is genuinely hard, the systems aren't there, the support isn't there, and the weight of figuring it all out alone eventually becomes too much.
That number doesn't have to be that high. And that's a belief worth building a business around.

Two years ago Ferro Projects were winning small one-off jobs through connections and platforms.
Now they are delivering on the West Gate Tunnel.
Finn and Jeremy had the technical expertise and the drive to play at a bigger level, but without the right systems, sales approach, and internal clarity, the contracts they were chasing kept going to someone else.
There was no formal way to target Tier 1 builders, no fire door division, and blurred roles between the two directors that were creating friction and costing them opportunities.
We built the growth plan alongside them, defined their roles, sharpened their tendering process, launched an entirely new fire door division, and got them in front of the right people with the right pitch.
Revenue is up 5x in under two years and Ferro Projects now has a seat at the table with some of Victoria's most significant construction projects.
This is what happens when a great trade business finally gets the structure to match its ambition.
A Sydney cabinet maker came to us fully booked, flat out, and still not making the money their work deserved.
They had a 12 week waitlist and consistent demand, but every quote going out the door was priced at the lowest number in the market. Not because the quality wasn't there, but because without clear data on where they sat against competitors, confidence in pricing was almost impossible. They were working at full capacity but leaving serious money on the table with every single job.
We started by benchmarking them properly against the market so they could see exactly where their pricing should sit. From there we built a custom quoting calculator that removed the guesswork entirely, making it fast, consistent, and easy to price every new job with confidence from day one.
Three months later the business was still booked out. Profit had tripled.
The only thing that changed was knowing their worth and having the right tool to back it up every time a new job came through the door.

One of the most valuable things you can do for your business is sit down and have an honest conversation about what's actually going on inside it.
Not the version you tell investors or put on your website, but the real picture.
What's working, what's quietly draining your energy, and what's been holding growth back longer than you'd like to admit.
Most business owners are so deep in the day to day that they rarely get the chance to zoom out and look at the full picture clearly.
Before you build any strategy or make any big moves, start there. Get clear on the problem before you reach for the solution, because when you genuinely understand what's holding the business back, the path forward becomes a lot more obvious.
That's always our first step, and it's one we'd encourage every SME owner to take seriously.

This is what happens when the right structure finally meets the right person.
Alice had the drive, the creative vision, and the clients.
What she didn't have was the operational architecture to scale without burning out. Every sale depended on her. Cashflow was unpredictable. And there was no clear path to build a team without dropping the quality her clients expected.
So we built it all alongside her. The systems, the team, the client experience.
Everything the business needed to grow without the chaos.

Before you implement AI, you need to know exactly where it belongs in your business.
That's where most business owners get stuck. They know AI is important and they've probably experimented with a few tools, but without a clear map of where it actually fits, it never quite lands the way it should.
You end up with disconnected tools, half-built processes, and the same manual workload you started with.
At Candour Strategy, we start by mapping out your entire operation to identify the specific points where AI will make the biggest difference.
The repetitive tasks, the time-wasting admin, the processes that are holding your growth back.
Once we know exactly where the gaps are, we implement the proven tools that fill them properly and build them into the way your business actually runs.
You don't need AI everywhere. You need it in the right places, and we'll show you exactly where those are.
