Creative workshops and events for babies to 13 year olds.

Photos from ArtPlay's post 19/06/2026

This July holiday, book your child into a performance workshop designed specifically for them, by children their own age.

Welcome to The Wall. On either side live kids who have never met, but have spent a lifetime whispering ancient secrets, recipes, and instructions for living through the gaps. Something wild has torn through one side (the other side) taking homes, treasures, and a whole festival with it.

That's why you're here. Step into this curious world where things seem upside down, but maybe that's the right way up. Bring your kindness, your imagination, and your making hands, because we need your help to put things back together!

Dates: Thursday 2 July to Sunday 5 July
Age: 5 to 10 years

Congratulations to The Black Lullaby Experience team for a sold-out public debut season! It's been such a privilege developing this work alongside you and your community πŸ₯πŸ’›

Thank you to artists Dianne Morris, NIASHA, Kwamena Brace and Amarantha Robinson. From initial intimate "Dream" and "Make" development stages with community and diaspora, to a public debut in its "Show" stage, The Black Lullaby Experience has grown into an immersive and interactive journey into Caribbean and African melodies for babies and their families.

Every New Ideas Lab project is a chance to be a part of a work-in-progress and collaboratively shape the work into something that children and families everywhere can someday experience. The work is actively shaped by you alongside the artists through three "Dream", "Make" and "Show" stages. Our final New Ideas Lab project, Undertow, debuts its "Show" stage today.

Undertow is a sensory performance for pregnant people, babies in the womb, new parents and pre-walking babies.

In this final stage, we have two special sessions at 2:30pm each day for pregnant people and babies in the womb to highlight their unique experiences. Join us to experience a story told without words about two people who decide to go on an adventure that will change them forever. Using sensory elements of light, sound, cloth and shadow play, the audience are drawn into an immersive world under the river.

Thank you to all the families and children who joined us across the three stages of Seen and Heard! We've had so much fun learning from you all. πŸ’«

Congratulations to artists and for an extremely successful season at ArtPlay πŸŽ‰

Seen and Heard has grown massively from its first "Dream" stage to its final "Show" stage, shifting focus to an interactive exploration of parenting through the relationships between children and their adults.

Every New Ideas Lab is a chance to be a part of a work-in-progress and collaboratively shape the work into something that children and families everywhere can someday experience. The work is actively shaped by you alongside the artists. Our final two New Ideas Lab projects will also debut their "Show" stages over the new two weeks.

Join us next week for the public debut of The Black Lullaby Experience! Rest, listen, and settle into a collective tapestry of sound from African and Caribbean culture. πŸ₯

Within this gentle environment, you might hear the heritage of familiar songs alongside new melodies that have grown from the ideas and sounds shared by families during the work's earlier development stages.

Whether you are exploring soft percussion, humming along, or simply rocking your little one to the music, this is a space to share in the quiet magic of the lullaby. It is an invitation to slow down and experience a unique, evolving language of African and Caribbean song and belonging.

Get ready for the FINAL stage of Seen and Heard! This time, the workshops are designed for children and their adults to do together. πŸ’«πŸŽ‰

What happens when the world’s most orderly island meets its first kids?

The Island is perfect. Orderly. Precise. Everything happens on time and as planned. Perhaps this is because this island is exclusively populated by adults. There are not - and never have been - any children.

And then one night, everything changes…

Through play, sound, and imagination, Seen and Heard invites young people to share their thoughts on parenting and caregiving - and invites parents and caregivers to listen.

Dates: Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May
Ages: 8 to 12 years
