Being creative and being aligned are not always the same experience.
As our work becomes more visible, feedback, recognition, and expectations can quietly influence not only what we create but also why we create it.
External validation isn't inherently good or bad. The more important question is whether it has become the main thing guiding our direction.
As our work becomes more visible, feedback, recognition, and expectations can quietly influence not only what we create, but also why we create it.

Healing does not always begin with "I love myself".
Sometimes it begins with refusing to repeat the words that hurt you.
You do not have to force positive affirmations or pretend everything is fine. A powerful first step is simply choosing not to speak to yourself with unnecessary cruelty.
What's one negative phrase about yourself you're ready to stop repeating?
Share it in the comments, or write it down and replace it with something more honest and compassionate.

What looked like a ruined experiment became one of the most important discoveries in medical history.
When Alexander Fleming noticed mould contaminating one of his petri dishes, he could have thrown it away and moved on. Instead, he paid attention to what seemed like a mistake and discovered the substance that would become penicillin.
It's a reminder that not every setback is the end of the story. Sometimes the unexpected result is the most valuable one.
Have you ever had a creative experiment take an unexpected turn and end up somewhere better than you planned?
Share your story in the comments, or send it to [email protected]. Your creative plot twist could inspire fellow creators in a future issue of Creativables.

What started as a Pringles can became part of a DIY photography lighting experiment.
For Issue 26’s “I Made This” feature, photographer Luke (IG: ) walks us through his modified flash tube setup, built using repurposed materials, electrical tape, and a bit of problem-solving. The result is a focused, directional light effect created from something most people would throw away.
A big thank you to Luke for sharing this experiment and his process with us. It is a simple but genuinely useful approach to shaping light.
If you have your own creative builds, experiments, or DIY setups, you can be part of the “I Made This” section by sharing them with us.

Not every photographer is ready to jump into expensive subscriptions, and actually, not everyone needs to.
In Issue 26, we explore free editing alternatives like Darktable, GIMP, and Inkscape, plus how they can help photographers level up their workflow, build visual identity, and keep growing without the high cost.
