Let's talk source engineering for a moment.

Most of you know a transport is just a streamer minus the DAC. The interesting question is what you're actually paying for when there's no analog stage to differentiate.

The answer is the boring stuff: power supply topology (we run separate supplies per functional block), oscillator quality (MEMS clocks on the USB hub of Rivo+), and output stage design (a dedicated ASIC handles S/PDIF and AES-EBU generation rather than the SoC doing double duty). Add I2S over HDMI for direct-to-DAC-chip routing, and full-rate support 768kHz PCM, DSD256 over USB.

A laptop can deliver the same bits. It can't deliver this electrical environment, and it won't run headless for years without touching it.
