It moves through vast dystopian expanses while delving inward, mapping a mysterious sonic landscape that feels both intimate and boundless.

Working with hardware and custom synthesis, supported by computers and controllers, Enclave shapes a distinctive voice within this machine-led framework. Subtle traces of the red ochre landscapes of his southern homeland permeate the sound, grounding its mechanical precision in an earthy warmth rarely found in the techno realm.

Renowned Melbourne-based producer and DJ Ranjit Nijjer brings over two decades of underground techno experience to the forefront with his latest entry in the Machine Mix series — a special live recording captured on New Year’s Day 2026 at Flights of Fancy, featuring a sun-drenched selection of deep, hypnotic, organic techno.

Having been an integral part of Melbourne’s techno landscape for over twenty years, Nijjer has left an indelible mark on the city’s underground music scene. From his role as the mastermind behind the iconic club night Technoir to his regular appearances at revered techno institutions such as Machine and Melbourne Techno Collective, Nijjer’s influence resonates throughout the city.

In recent years, Nijjer has solidified his position as a prolific producer, delivering seven EPs on Machine. His relentless dedication to crafting intricate soundscapes and hypnotic rhythms has garnered him widespread acclaim, both locally and internationally.

Enclave

Emerging from Australia’s vibrant rock and metal scene of the '90s, Paul Derons—renowned guitarist and front-of-house engineer—shifted gears as the new millennium approached. With a sharp turn toward electronic music, and techno in particular, the project Enclave was born. Descending on this new sonic territory with the precision of a bird of prey, Derons launched into production with a fierce focus on drum machines and analog hardware.

What followed was a cybernetic sound—deep, dark, and hypnotic, crafted to stimulate both the mind and the dance floor.

While we’d love to claim Enclave as our own, the truth is his body of work spans an impressive array of respected labels.

His releases have found homes on IF? Records, Elektrax offshoots Translucent and Gynoid Audio, Pinksilver, and, of course, Machine Label.

Notably, many of these labels carry a distinct Australian identity, something that also defines the unique character of the Enclave sound. Utilizing hardware, custom synthesis, and digital tools in equal measure, Enclave creates a sonic tapestry that speaks to the red ochre landscapes of his homeland. His music blends machine precision with an organic earthiness rarely found in the electronic realm.

Recently, Enclave has returned to the studio, refining his vision and developing new material—integrating the latest technologies into both his productions and live performances sets. With a new EP due out on Machine Label in later in 2025.
