Last month, Brian and Sepi attended a store re-opening celebration alongside our Community Connect partner, Heart and Soul Community Group.

The event included a cheque presentation recognising the incredible work being done to support people experiencing food insecurity across southern South Australia.

Every Coles store plays an important role in our Community Connect program, helping ensure surplus food reaches local communities instead of going to waste. This support is especially important in southern SA, where the need for food relief continues to grow and services can be limited.

A huge thank you to Store Manager Richard Boyce and the entire team for their ongoing partnership and commitment to supporting the community through SecondBite and Heart and Soul Community Group.

Together, we’re helping make sure more good food reaches people who need it most.

At Christ Mission Possible Inc. Sydney in Penrith, no one is turned away — and every week, that commitment reaches more than 25,000 people across Greater Sydney.

Through their Food Solutions programs, Food Solutions delivers over 3,000 free school lunches to children in need each week, runs free community pop-up food shops several times a week, serves hot breakfasts to those experiencing severe hardship, and distributes free hampers packed with meat, fresh produce, and pantry staples straight from their warehouse door.

SecondBite is proud to support this work. Through warehouse collections and 19 Community Connect collections per week across 5 stores, we've provided 273,034kg of rescued food to CMP so far in 2026.

As Food Solutions Division Manager David Collins puts it: "SecondBite is part of how we do it. The fresh, quality produce they rescue and share with us goes directly into the hands of families, children, and individuals doing it tough — at no cost."

The SecondBite team is excited to welcome Andrew Vella-Coolwell as our new First Nations Community Engagement Officer in Victoria.
