Children First Foundation facilitates life-changing and life-saving surgery for disadvantaged children from developing countries. We picture a world where every child can access excellent medical care wherever they live. The children who come to Australia for their surgery live at our Retreat in rural Victoria, where they are cared for by our amazing team of staff and volunteers. Over the past 22

Nine‑year‑old Lis requires a series of complex surgeries, beginning with the reconstruction of her hands.
This first step will help create fingers and thumbs, giving Lis the opportunity to use her hands in ways she has not been able to before.
Her hands come first because they are so important right now — for learning, for writing, for holding a pencil and drawing the flowers and houses she dreams of creating.
Your support is not just funding one surgery. It is helping begin a journey — one that starts with her hands and will continue with her feet — bringing Lis closer to the life she has always imagined.
With 30 June approaching, your tax‑deductible gift today can help take this next step forward for Lis 💙

We’re so happy to share a beautifully positive healing journey for Lilyrose 💙
With time for rest, play and creative moments, she’s been able to recover well — and has now been given the all clear from her surgical team to head home.
Before leaving, our wonderful volunteer Efika took Lilyrose and her mum Janeth out to enjoy the last of the South Australian winter sunshine ahead of their return to Vanuatu ✨
Jelome headed into another surgery with so much joy and energy 💙 His language skills continue to grow every day, with Lily’s caring guidance and encouragement, just like any other toddler his age ✨
This procedure helped repair his cleft lip following his previous infection, and will be Jelome’s final surgery for some time.
Once he has recovered and given the green light by his care team, Jelome will be on his way home for some very special reunions with family and friends 💙
In the meantime, a big thumbs up for Jelome — and to you for following along on his journey 👍
Fa’afetai (thank you) for welcoming us Samoa 💙
Thank you again to our incredible partners — local teams, RACS, Kiwanis and the Lions Club — who made this week possible.
We also extend our gratitude to the families who entrusted their children to the care of our visiting surgical team. Their courage and strength were deeply inspiring to witness.
We’ll be sharing more stories from this week soon — follow along for updates ✨

Gorgeous little ten-month-old Jordan came to us for a herniotomy. His mum travelled by herself for him to receive the care he needed with our team. The surgery was fairly quick, and he was soon reunited with his mum, resting and recovering in her arms where he belongs 💙
One thing is for certain, the smiles from Jordan and mum will be even brighter and wider when he is back home, healthy and happy 🌟

Look who’s doing so well after surgery! 💙
After some well‑earned rest and follow‑up check‑ups with his doctors, Hong is recovering beautifully.
The smiles on Hong and his mum’s faces say it all: relief and joy as they prepare to head home after a successful surgical outcome ✨
Ward rounds first thing upon arriving at the hospital: care goes beyond surgery itself, it’s also critical pre- and post-operation.

Heading into theatre can be a daunting experience for any child. The unknown, bright lights, and many unfamiliar faces.
But there is caring presence close by: a parent or guardian, holding their hand and offering reassurance until they gently drift off to sleep before surgery begins.
A quiet but powerful reminder of the comfort and warmth parents and guardians bring to children receiving care.

Six‑year‑old Hong was up early and ready for his surgery 💙
He greeted the day with smiles, laughter, and even gave us his best Spider‑Man impression while waiting to head in, with his mum and grandma by his side.
Hong was born with a rare congenital condition called Hirschsprung disease, which has made everyday life uncomfortable and carries serious health risks if left untreated.
Surgery today will provide him more comfort, the ability to have pain-free bowel movements, and a safe and healthy future ✨

Meet nurses Ruth and Gemma, from Australia and New Zealand respectively.
We’ll be following them along and sharing moments of how their day is going, outside of surgery itself.
