DUST is my second studio album, out now, and I’m so happy to be able to share it with you.

It’s the cosmic dust. And the dust on the windows of the studio where I wrote these songs. It’s the very big things, and how we hold them simply & unadorned in the everyday.

My latest single :: ‘Life Has Not Forgotten You’ is one of my favourite songs & the last one before the whole album (out tomorrow!!!)

It was a very particular feeling I was trying to capture in this song. That fine, invisible spool of thread that’s drawn out of your heart and feels like hope.

For me, it’s about how painful it can be when life keeps getting bigger around grief, how ultimately we have to move on. And that as we do, it brings a whole new, stinging, frosty, essential kind of pain, one that makes way for new growth.

It’s hope after loss, and equally, a deep knowing that Life will never, ever forget you. 🪽

Iceland, the quiet hush of snow. This place of extremes. Sunset through the studio window, Saskia asleep on the couch while I record, this beautiful piano, light on water. A mountain standing guard.

To be in this country is to remember the other world in this world.

It’s also a concert, rehearsals, filming, writing, recording. Too much snow for a pram so using a sled. Making pasta, peas & pesto for dinner, editing a new project at night. The constant, beautiful push-pull: how to be a mother and a musician?

The artwork for this album was shot on film, at sunrise, in my apartment. Without hair, make up, lighting or styling, but instead Alli’s eye for energy, embodiment, gesture & that moment when the muse arrives. ~once you know, you know. .•.

Thank you all so much for the incredible reception of F A L L I N G. Strange, vulnerable, wonderful thing to put a lyric track out into the world. What I didn’t get around to mentioning last week, is that this is part of my second album ‘DUST’, which will be out in November. It is an absolute honour to be releasing this work with two beautiful labels here & in Iceland. A body of work that spans time, love, death, birth. I can’t wait to share it with you.

Such a joy to be performing new work again. Concerts in a thunderstorm in Sydney last week: flight delays, getting changed in the back of a cab, feeding Sask between sets, deep breaths, stillness, sun cracking through, beautiful faces in the crowd, exhaustion, elation, a wonderful team.

The day before I went into labor I met my dear friend and soul sister at the beach. I’d been there watching a storm roll in over the horizon, and knew something was coming.

I have a new song out next week, my first lyric track. One of my favourite lines in the song is: ‘like when you named me / a storm on a wide sea’. It was written long before this day, and carried a meaning hidden even to me.
