The Max Effect in FULL SWING this weekend
All I’ve learnt is if you put Lewis Hamilton in your breaking news, and you’ll get clicks
Five seconds. That’s all it takes to ruin your entire weekend. Denial — “That’s not a penalty. He LEFT him space.” Anger — the stewards are biased. They’ve always been biased. Bargaining — “If he gaps him by six seconds before the stop it doesn’t matter.” Depression — watching the gap tick down. P2 becoming P3. Acceptance — “It’s fine. Points finish. We move on.” We never move on.
The commentator’s curse — when a broadcaster praises a driver and they immediately suffer for it.
“Looking comfortable.” Retirement. “No problems.” Puncture. “In complete control.” Spin.
Martin Brundle and Crofty are the biggest offenders in F1 history — they’ve jinxed drivers mid-sentence more times than either would like to admit. Even Lewis Hamilton has been cursed at his peak.
Coincidence? Sure. But every F1 fan knows — the moment someone on the mic says your driver is fine, start panicking.
The broadcast booth might be the most dangerous place on the grid.
