‼️ 2025–2026 was a BIG one. And we don’t just mean the numbers 👀

This year gave us a chance to see what can happen when animal welfare doesn’t only respond to crisis, but reaches animals and their families earlier.

With rising costs, uncertain circumstances and the everyday pressures that can make caring for a pet harder, we put more of our focus into making sure support was there before things reached that point.

And wow, did that support travel 💛

More than 100,000 pet meals distributed. Thousands of pets receiving practical support. Families accessing help when they needed it.

But perhaps our favourite number is one we’ll never actually know: how many animals never needed to be rescued because their families got the support they needed first.

We went digging through 3 years of Animal Welfare Victoria’s reports… and found a few things worth talking about 👀

These reports show us why animal welfare can’t only begin once an animal enters a pound or rescue.

Animals shouldn’t have to reach crisis point before support becomes available. And people shouldn’t have to exhaust every option before they’re able to access help. Keeping animals safe means making that support accessible long before surrender feels like the only option.

August was busy. So busy, in fact, that our monthly report came several days late 😅

We share these numbers every month because transparency matters to us. Your donations become food, vet care, parasite prevention, training, grooming and practical support for animals and the people who love them.
