Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle (34U) is currently at category 4 intensity in the northern Coral Sea.
Narelle is moving steadily to the west and will approach the far north-east Queensland coast between Lockhart River and Cooktown.
Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle is expected to bring severe impacts to Far North Queensland during Friday.

Preparing your community submission for the Disaster Ready Fund Round Three?
This round of the Disaster Ready Fund will deliver $200 million towards communities. The funding will help reduce disaster risk and build resilience Australia wide.
The deadline for project proposals has been extended, and now closes on 16 April 2025. This is in response to feedback received from multiple impacted local government areas following the significant disruption caused by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, as well as significant weather events in other states and territories.

If you get isolated because of severe weather, could you last a few days without a trip to the shops?
Make sure your emergency kit has:
✅ Canned goods (soups, spaghetti, baked beans)
🥨 Easy pantry staples
💧 Bottled water
🥪 Food that doesn’t need heating
Also, if relevant make sure you pack:
🐾 Dried pet food
🍼 Baby formula

Thoughts are with the communities of the Vanuatu islands in the path of Severe TC Lola this evening. Stay safe.
The dangerous core of Severe TC Lola is beginning to impact the eastern islands of the Vanuatu chain. While the system is weakening, it is still a very powerful cyclone (still analysed as a category 4 by the Vanuatu Met Department). Thoughts are with those in its path tonight.
