Ever wished your dive just… lasted a bit longer?

Meet the PADI Enriched Air Diver course.

Diving with nitrox means more no-decompression time, longer dives, and more time exploring the reef you came to see in the first place. With less nitrogen in your system, many divers also feel less fatigued after a big day in the water.

In short: more time down, more time enjoying it, less time watching your computer count you up.

And the best part? This is one of the most useful and flexible specialties you can do on your diving journey, and it also counts towards your Master Scuba Diver rating.

What you’ll learn:
- How enriched air nitrox actually works and how to dive it safely
- How to analyse your tank and set your dive computer correctly
- Key considerations around oxygen exposure and dive planning
- How to get the most time underwater from every dive

No complicated classroom day required either. You can complete the theory online at home, then join us in store for a quick practical session when you’re ready.

How it works:
- Enrol and complete your PADI eLearning at your own pace
- Book a short in store session with our team
- Get certified and start diving longer straight away

It’s a stunning start to the day in Manly, with flat conditions across the bay and pink skies putting on a show for the early risers. Visibility yesterday was a little milky at around 4-6m, but reports this morning suggest things are already improving.

The giant cuttlefish are continuing to draw plenty of attention around Cabbage Tree Bay, with most sightings coming from the left-hand side near Fairy Bower Pool in just 2 metres of water. If you enjoy underwater photography, it could be the perfect opportunity to spend some time in the shallows.

Emily is back in the water this evening leading a Night Dive, where divers will be on the lookout for all the incredible creatures that come to life after sunset. Sydney gloomy octopus, pyjama squid, bubble snails, anglerfish and pipefish are all regular sightings, making every night dive a little different from the last.

For those more interested in corals than critters, there are some beautiful colonies of Pocillopora aliciae growing throughout the aquatic reserve that are well worth seeking out. Then this evening, Dive Club Members can join us as we welcome John Sear and Dr Jen Matthews for an information night on citizen science and coral mapping projects happening throughout Sydney.

The team has been out and about scouting sites this week, and we’ve still got a few places available on our Guided Shore Dives this Friday and Sunday. If you'd like the best chance of finding Manly’s amazing marine life, we'd love to have you along. Book your spot online and come explore with us!'

With our team returning with full hearts from an incredible trip to the Great Barrier Reef, and seeing the smiles on divers' faces in Cabbage Tree Bay thanks to the fantastic conditions in Sydney this past week, we're reminded just how good diving in Australia really is.

This Travel Tuesday, we're keeping things a little closer to home. Why wouldn't we when we have world-class diving right on our doorstep?

Join us this August in the Solitary Islands, Coffs Harbour, just six hours up the coast, where temperate southern waters meet warm tropical currents to create one of Australia's most diverse marine ecosystems. Macro lovers can expect tiny critters sharing the reef with colourful Indo-Pacific tropical fish, while larger visitors include grey nurse sharks and, perhaps most impressively, humpback whales. You'll even have a dedicated day to swim with them!

Or, save a trip for just before Christmas and head north to South West Rocks. Home to one of Australia's largest aggregations of grey nurse sharks, this iconic destination offers unforgettable dives through beautifully lit caverns lined with pink gorgonian corals. Surrounded by large, toothy but slow sharks, it's easy to see why this is a paradise for underwater photographers of all experience levels.

Our trips fill quickly, so secure your spot now. Head over to our website to do so: https://divesydney.com.au/scuba-diving-trips-and-travel/

The winter sun is shining, the winds are behaving, and the secret is out! Manly Beach was buzzing first thing this morning with runners, swimmers, and snorkellers all checking out today’s conditions.

Cabbage Tree Bay yesterday offered 5m of visibility, looking clearer on the right-hand-side and opening up further around the point. The marine life was putting on quite a show, featuring a crested horn shark, Rosemary the turtle, wobbegongs, Australian giant cuttlefish, a Bennet’s nudibranch, huge schools of yellowtail scad, diamond fish, a big bull ray, and a Sydney gloomy octopus wandering the seagrass.

Today, Matt is down at Shelly Beach with his PADI Open Water students finishing off day two of their course while James and Emily keep the shop filled with all your favourite dive gear.

The week is underway, and we're back in the water at Shelly Beach.

Visibility yesterday was around 5 - 6 metres throughout the bay and towards Fairy Bower. The surface looks nice and flat this morning, with very little surge, making for comfortable conditions both in and out of the water.

The weekend delivered plenty of highlights inside Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve. Divers were treated to massive schools of yellowtail scad numbering in the thousands, a grey nurse shark cruising through, octopus tucked beneath seemingly every second rock, giant cuttlefish roaming the shallows, and wobbegong sharks resting amongst the reefs. We also spotted common stingarees, eastern morwong, flagtail triggerfish and dwarf lionfish.

Today, Matt is kicking off the week with a full group of PADI Open Water students. They'll be starting their training in the heated pool before heading to Shelly Beach later in the day to put their new skills into practice. Meanwhile, Daz will be out exploring the bay on a Double Guided Shore Dive in search of all the critters hiding amongst the rocks and reefs.

Ever explored your favourite local dive site after dark? Join us this Thursday for a Guided Night Dive and discover a completely different side to diving as the nocturnal residents emerge after sunset.

Calling all shark lovers! 🦈

If diving alongside Grey Nurse Sharks has been sitting on your bucket list, this is your chance.

On Sunday 21st June, we're heading to the iconic Bushrangers Bay. Just two hours south of Sydney, it's one of NSW's most renowned shore dives and one of the best places to encounter Grey Nurse Sharks.

Bushrangers is famous for its resident sharks, dramatic underwater landscape, and thriving marine life. Drop into the channel and you could find yourself face-to-face with Grey Nurse Sharks as they cruise past you. Between shark encounters, keep an eye out for giant cuttlefish, rays, and plenty of other temperate marine life hiding amongst the rocks and reefs.

Suitable for certified divers of all levels, this is the perfect opportunity to experience one of Australia's most memorable dives with the support of an experienced guide.

Spaces are limited, so don't leave this one to the sharks.
