Long time between posts - quite a bit of internal evolution and development going on here - but, amidst the debut of one client's new brand (and three operational sub-brands) over the past few months, this latest blog post by Ivan Misner resonated with some great ripples ... definitely worth a read!
The Curse of Complexity | Dr. Ivan Misnerยฎ 27Apr2026 The Curse of Complexity I want to talk about something that quietly undermines otherwise successful organizations. It doesnโt arrive with alarms or announcements. It creeps in slowly, disguised as progress. I call it The Curse of Complexityโsometimes known as โfeature creepโโand ...

This just in - actually, the 17th BUSHkids Annual Report in succession is just in! - and you can flip its pages online here at: https://www.bushkids.org.au/annualreport2025/ ...
.. we'd almost forgotten about the first AnnReps (ca 2008-09) which had been carefully crafted in the former, in-house style before the progressive roll-out of the new branding15 years ago!
The powerful wordmark of 'BUSHkids' - now slimmed-down to its flexible visual essence - has become the unique brand anchor it was unconsciously always destined to be, and we're thrilled (and more than a little gob-smacked) to have been part of the organisation's journey from its 80th to its 90th anniversaries!

Unsurprisingly - again! - we're a tad behind the curve when it comes to 'blowing our own horn' about recent major deliverable achievements, but this "DL-SUPER" 5-panel ["10pp"] Member Directory brochure for Redlands' August 2025 edition has surpassed all previous efforts - both in spectacular hard-copy print (compliments to the professional expertise of the Clear production teams in Brissy) as well as in its fully-hyperlinked digital e-PDF iterations.
The 'force-multiplier effect' of such an integrated, multi-channel resource continues to win acclaim and deliver tangible, measurable results!
Customising each month's brochure with creative personally tailored for each sponsoring Chapter member's support is one of the most fun quirks of this job!
If you would like to discover more about how a 'boring standard brochure' can really make ongoing market impacts across multiple connection channels, then please get in touch!

Fascinating background story just revealed by CNN online about the professional, ethical and moral dilemmas discovered, faced and willingly shared by the designer of a New York City skyscraper ...
This New York skyscraper had a 1-in-16 chance of collapse. Only one man knew | CNN Unbeknownst to Citicorp Centerโs owners, occupants and even architects, a potentially catastrophic engineering flaw might have caused the tower to collapse, killing thousands.

Hi folks
More and more, recently, we've been productively interacting with an increasing number of sole traders and small-medium-sized businesses which are finding themselves reaching - and pushing - the limits of their Canva (et al) accounts and in-house capabilities, as they seek continued growth and expansion.
Tools and resources which started as an economy-of-costs internal impost can rapidly reach limitations beyond the core focus of the business. This is not a 'bad' thing; rather, a healthy symptom of growth outside previous limitations.
More and more, we're finding that we're co-conducting 'interventions' with individuals and firms realising that their time has come for a step-change up in how they view and manage their critical brand resources.
Masthead Design & Creative is happy to step in and help with the logistics of such a growth phase - but we've found that it's invariably more efficient, and cost-effective, to engage our professional skills sooner rather than later.
Here's a preview of our simple, 8-step branding health-check - to get in touch, and receive a copy of the IA PDF questionnaire, please get in touch by DM or email!

What do David Beckham and Donald Trump have (accidentally) in common? They're both riding opposite ends of the 'branding see-saw' - and, given that it's likely that FB/Meta will preview the first of the two links in this post to the former, we can probably make no apologies for that.
Masthead Design & Creative is currently finalising the creation and roll-out of a new brand for one of our clients. It therefore piqued our interest that these two, quite opposite, branding-related pieces popped up in our feeds.
David Beckham, during and after his professional football [soccer] career, has continually evolved and refreshed 'Brand Beckham' very much in the style/s crafted by Cher and Kylie Minogue, as this extract from the linked piece succinctly states:
"David Beckhamโs relationship with fashion has been a defining aspect of his public persona since his early days as a professional athlete. His willingness to experiment with different styles, hairstyles, and trends has solidified his status as a fashion icon.
https://tastyandelicious.com/david-beckham-strips-off-in-latest-ad-and-everyone-has-noticed-the-same-thing
"From his memorable sarong appearance in the late 1990s to his sleek, tailored looks in recent years, Beckhamโs fashion evolution reflects a blend of personal expression and an understanding of broader style movements.
"This latest endeavor with HUGO BOSS not only reinforces Beckhamโs relevance in the fashion industry but also highlights the seamless integration of athleticism and style."
An enviable, and beautifully commercially-crafted blend of two global brand icons, with a 'win-win synergy' all round.
And then, on the opposite end of the see-saw, we have Donald Trump and 'Brand USA' - two no-less-global 'icons' (and, it might be said, in an also 'commercially-crafted' merger) - but on a very different 'ride' ...
We'll leave that for now, with the second of this post's links: some summary commentary from CNN:

Four brands, two partnerships, and two very different journeys ...
