Today marked the first day of National Reconciliation Week 2026. As a centre, we came together for a whole-centre picnic where all children and educators shared morning tea together in a meaningful celebration of connection, community, and belonging.

During our gathering, the children participated in an Acknowledgement to Country, showing respect for the Traditional Custodians of the land and recognising the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and perspectives.

To further extend the children’s learning, each room planted a traditional bush tucker plant together. This hands-on experience encouraged the children to connect with nature, culture, and sustainable practices while fostering respect and understanding for Indigenous knowledge and ways of caring for Country.

These experiences linked closely to the EYLF, Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity

Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world

Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners.

Kindergarten 1 have been exploring children’s autonomy and extending on children’s interests through playful learning experiences. One of our peers brought in a very funny book called The Bum Book, which quickly became a favourite amongst the children and educators, filling our learning environment with laughter and joy.

To extend on this interest, the children participated in a fun and creative “bum stamp” painting experience using baby dolls to dip and stamp into paint. The children explored creativity, imagination, and sensory play while independently making choices about colours, stamping, and how they wanted to create their artwork.
Through this experience, the children strengthened their confidence, communication, social connections, and sense of belonging while engaging in child-led learning.

We’re often asked what being not-for-profit really means for our families.

Simply put, it means that our purpose always comes before profit. Every dollar we make is reinvested back into our centres, to provide children with enriching and safe learning environments.

We understand how important it is for children to be in a place where they feel safe and settled. And when families need to make a change - planned or unexpected - we’re here to help make that transition easier.

We’re here to support families when it matters most – because every child deserves a Goodstart! ✨
