It was an honour to serve as the 30th Youth Member for Whitsunday this year in the Queensland Youth Parliament.
Over the year I was able to be apart of a committee that created a bill that would finally give regional Queenslanders a part of what they created.
Royalties for Regions started out as the thing you heard most people in regional communities complain about.
“Brisbane & the south east corner were taking the money we generated and leaving us behind.”
Regional communities are facing the challenges of poorly resourced schools, failing health services, inadequate telecommunications and crumbling infrastructure.
The Royalties for Regions bill changes that by giving back to the places that contribute so much to our state.
Regional Queensland powers this state and it’s absolutely vital that they get the compensation for it.
Whitsunday is an amazing electorate I’m proud to call home and it’s a unique and special place.
From the natural wonders of the Whitsunday islands in the North to the perfect place to live life in the Northern Beaches in its South, Whitsunday has it all.
I want to thank Amanda Camm MP for her ongoing support and guidance throughout the year, it was an honour to serve as her Youth Member.
Throughout the program I was able to truly amply my voice and put the agenda of regional Queensland front and centre for everyone to see.
Thank you YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament for an amazing year!
The work isn’t done, it’s just beginning…

Thank you to Hannah and mackaywhitsundaylife for the article in community news this week.
I am a proud advocate for regional Queensland and its communities because they deserve better.
I am keen to fight for our miners, farmers and everyone in between in parliament this week and very proud to have passed our “Royalties for Regions” Bill something that can truly make a difference for so many regional communities across the state.

Amazing morning organised by for the Art in the Park festival!
Amazing job by the Rebecca Cooper and the Northern Beaches Our Community, good to see the Northern Beaches Community getting together and involved.
The royalties for regions idea invests in supporting regional Queensland communities through a
dedicated fund, promoting local development, essential
services, infrastructure, manufacturing, digital access,
and sustainability.
It’s absolutely crucial Regional Queensland gets their fair share of the income they create through our minerals and resources.
I’m proud to be backing our bill that supports regional communities getting the funding they deserve from the income they create.
With Queensland having the highest royalty rates in the world we might as well get what we deserve from them.

The Mackay Youth Council is officially 2 years old this month!
After a survey with over 1000 young people across the Mackay Region what they wanted was a voice and partnering with the Foundation for Young Australians they have created that.
In July 2023 I was officially sworn into the first democratically elected Mackay Youth Council and elected to the position of Deputy Mayor.
In that term we accomplished many things such as a Standard Operating Procedures establishing the processes for how our council will run. Mental Health First Aid training and activating our local libraries.
As well we also travelled to Canberra for the first National Youth Forum in March 2024 where we pitched ideas to the Government departments on how we could help young people facing various issues across our country.
I was then re-elected and sworn into for a second time in October 2024 and was proud to continue on as Deputy Mayor on our council.
This month we’ve just launched our priority agenda after consultation with the community with our plan to deliver on our promises for the Mackay Youth.
It’s been an honour to serve the young people of Mackay over the last 2 years and I look forward to the rest our term and implementing our priority agenda.
Thank you to everyone who’s backed and supported me in this amazing journey.
Representing the young voices across our community is something I’m very grateful to do.

This year marks the 110th anniversary since the ANZACs landed on the beaches of Gallipoli in the First World War.
It was an honour to accompany Amanda Camm MP as the Youth Member for Whitsunday to the ANZAC Day Service at Bucasia.
I had the privilege to join many other members of our community as we paid respects to the servicemen and women that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Lest we forget.
