As another crushing season begins across our region, the team at Evolution Engineering Mackay would like to wish all sugarcane growers, harvesting crews, haul-out operators, mill workers, locomotive operators and farming families a safe, productive and successful season.
The sugar industry is the backbone of many communities throughout our region, and we recognise the hard work, long hours and dedication that go into every tonne of cane delivered to the mill.

As activity increases on our roads and rail crossings, we encourage everyone to remain patient and vigilant. Please take extra care around cane trains, locomotives, wide loads, haul-out trucks and agricultural machinery as they move throughout our communities.

🏭The 2026 production season is almost here! 🚂

We’ve confirmed season start dates, with our first factories scheduled to kick off on Tuesday 2 June and the remaining sites starting on Tuesday 9 June.

📍 Starting 2 June:
• Invicta, Pioneer, Kalamia and Inkerman mills in the Burdekin
• Plane Creek Mill, Sarina.

📍 Starting 9 June:
• Proserpine Mill
• Victoria and Macknade mills in the Herbert.

A big thank you to our employees, contractors and service providers for their outstanding efforts in delivering this year's large maintenance season works program. 👏

Pre-season commissioning is now under way, with steam trials taking place across our factories over the next fortnight.

🚂⚠️ Remember that locomotive driver training is taking place across all of our milling regions. It's time to switch on your train brain and take extra care at cane railway crossings.
