A huge thank you to Lyka for their generous donation of premium dog food to Mackay Pet Rescue Inc.
We were delighted to receive several boxes of Lyka’s quality dog food, which will help nourish dogs in foster care while they wait for their forever homes.
Providing nutritious food is an important part of helping rescue animals recover, thrive and put their best paw forward when meeting potential adopters. Donations like these make a real difference to the animals in our care and help ease the financial burden on our volunteer foster carers.
As a volunteer-run rescue with no shelter and no government funding, we rely on the generosity of businesses and community supporters to continue our work. We are incredibly grateful to Lyka for supporting rescue dogs and helping us provide the care they deserve.
Thank you, Lyka, for making a difference to the lives of rescue animals.

A GENTLE GIANT LOOKING FOR HIS PERSON
This is Kai.
If you’ve ever loved a Great Dane, you’ll understand exactly what makes them so special.
Despite their enormous size, Great Danes are often the biggest softies you’ll ever meet. They don’t realise they’re giant dogs. They don’t care that they take up half the couch, most of the bed, and all of your personal space.
They simply want to be close to the people they love.
And that describes Kai perfectly.
Kai is absolutely convinced he is a lap dog.
Whether he’s curled up beside you on the couch, following you from room to room, or settling himself at the foot of your bed, Kai is happiest when he is with his people. He doesn’t want to be left out of family life. He wants to be part of it.
He wants to know what you’re doing.
He wants to come along for the ride.
He wants to share quiet evenings, lazy Sundays and all the ordinary moments in between.
Kai has a beautiful, gentle nature. He is affectionate without being demanding, social without being overwhelming, and calm enough to settle beautifully into a family home.
He is wonderful with children and gets along well with friendly cats. He has good basic manners, is house trained, and has the kind of easy-going personality that makes him a pleasure to have around.
For a dog of his size, Kai is surprisingly uncomplicated.
Give him a comfortable place to sleep, people to love, and a spot near you on the couch, and he’ll think he’s won the lottery.
The truth is, dogs like Kai don’t come along every day.
He is loyal. He is gentle. He is affectionate.
And he is waiting for someone to see just how special he is.
For more information or to arrange a meet and greet, please contact Pam on 0488 282 237.
Assisted Rehome – Mackay Pet Rescue Inc is assisting Kai’s carer to find him the loving home he deserves.

💚 THE GREEN-EYED GIRL 💚
Look at those eyes.
No really.
Take a second and look at them.
How is this cat still waiting for a home?
We genuinely thought she would have been adopted weeks ago.
Beautiful cats come through rescue all the time.
But a cat with looks like this and a personality to match? That’s a little harder to find.
The Green-Eyed Girl is the complete package.
- Confident without being demanding.
- Affectionate without being clingy.
- Playful without being chaotic.
- She takes everything in her stride.
- Visitors don’t bother her.
- Household noise doesn’t bother her.
-Vacuum cleaners don’t bother her.
Life, in general, doesn’t seem to bother her.
Instead, she simply gets on with the important things.
Supervising household activities.
Keeping your spot on the couch warm.
Following you around to see what you’re doing.
And reminding you that cats make every day a little better.
At around 9 months of age, she’s past the tiny baby stage but still has all the fun, playfulness and affection of a young cat.
In other words, She’s ready.Ready for a home.
Ready for a family.Ready for someone to finally realise what they’ve been missing.
Oh, and her foster carer calls her Henna.
But around here?
She’s simply known as The Green-Eyed Girl.

💙 THE HEARTBREAKER 💙
Some kittens steal your attention.
The Heartbreaker steals your heart.
We honestly thought this boy would be one of the first kittens adopted.
With his striking white coat, handsome markings and golden eyes, he is the sort of kitten that makes people stop scrolling and take a second look.
Predominantly white kittens like him are incredibly uncommon in rescue.
But his good looks are only part of the story.
The Heartbreaker is everything you could want in a kitten.
He is playful.
He is affectionate.
He is curious about absolutely everything.
Making the bed? He’ll help.
Folding the washing? He’ll supervise.
Opening a packet of treats? He’ll be there before you’ve finished opening it.
He loves being involved in family life and has the sort of confident, friendly personality that makes visitors instantly fall in love with him.
He is the kitten who follows you from room to room.
The kitten who wants to know what you’re doing.
The kitten who somehow turns ordinary moments into something fun.
And when the day is done, he is more than happy to settle down for cuddles and affection.
What has us completely baffled is that he is still waiting.
Because if we’re being honest, we thought this handsome boy would have found his family weeks ago.
Yet here he is. Still waiting.
Still charming everyone he meets.
Still looking for someone to love.
He is ready to go.
Ready to explore.
Ready to cuddle.
Ready to become somebody’s best friend.
Could the Heartbreaker be the missing piece in your family?

❄️ THE SNOW QUEEN ❄️
We genuinely thought this kitten would be adopted within days.
Just look at her.
With her predominantly white coat, striking markings and golden eyes, the Snow Queen is one of the most unusual kittens we have welcomed into care in a very long time.
Kittens like her are rare. Very rare.
We can go a year or more without seeing predominantly white kittens with colouring this beautiful.
But looks aren’t everything.
The Snow Queen is affectionate, playful and loves being around her people.
She enjoys chasing toys, exploring the house and supervising whatever you’re doing.
When playtime is over, she’s quite happy to curl up nearby and enjoy some attention.
She has the sort of sweet, easy-going personality that makes her a wonderful family companion.
The kind of kitten who quickly becomes part of the family.
The kind of kitten who makes a house feel like home.
What has us completely baffled is that she is still waiting.
Because if we’re being honest, we thought people would be lining up to meet her.
Yet somehow this beautiful little girl is still looking for her forever family.
She is ready to go.
Ready for adventures.
Ready for cuddles.
Ready for a family to call her own.
Could the Snow Queen be the missing piece in your family?

MEET FINN
At just 8 weeks old, Finn is built like a Sherman tank.
Most kittens arrive in foster care looking tiny and delicate. Finn arrived weighing a mere 200 grams. We assumed he was another frail neonate kitten. We now suspect he may actually be a small bodybuilder.
Unlike most rescue kittens, Finn’s weight never went backwards. Not once. He never missed a meal, a snack, a second breakfast, an afternoon tea, a supper or a creamy treat.
In fact, if food is involved, Finn somehow appears before you’ve even opened the packet.
We’re fairly certain this explains his Alan Ritchson physique.
At just 8 weeks old, Finn already looks like he’s preparing for the lead role in Reacher: The Kitten Years.
There is absolutely no stopping this boy once he gets moving. He charges through the house with all the subtlety of a wrecking ball and the confidence of a cat who believes every room belongs to him.
Poor Freya tried to keep up. She couldn’t.
Finn needs a friend who is bigger, stronger and prepared to engage in his preferred style of play, which can best be described as full-contact wrestling with occasional breaks for snacks.
But Finn isn’t all muscles and mayhem. Once he’s finished his daily mission of inspecting the house, ambushing unsuspecting toys and generally causing chaos, he transforms into a cuddle bug.
Watching a movie? Finn will be under your chin. Sitting on the couch? Finn will be in your lap. Glance in his direction? Finn starts purring. And kisses. Finn loves getting and giving kisses.
Life with Finn will never be boring. He has movie star looks, a larger-than-life personality and enough charm to get away with just about anything.
If kittens made action movies, Finn would be the star.
To register your “expression of interest”, message Ros on 0403 814 318 and tell us a little about the home you can offer this larger-than-life little legend.

🐾🦘 HELP OUR LOCAL WILDLIFE HEROES 🦘🐾
Today we would like to shine a spotlight on the incredible team at Bush Babies Wildlife Care.
This amazing group of unpaid volunteers dedicates countless hours to rescuing, raising and rehabilitating orphaned and injured native wildlife across Mackay, Sarina and the entire Isaac Region.
Every baby kangaroo, possum, koala and native animal that comes into their care requires specialised feeding, veterinary treatment, housing, transport and around-the-clock attention. It is a huge commitment, and they simply could not do it without community support.
Bush Babies Wildlife Care is currently in need of:
• Baby wraps and blankets
• Towels
• Sheets
• Doona covers
• Pillowcases
• Good-sized cages
• Portacots
• Tissues
• Disinfectants and cleaning supplies
• Wombaroo milk formula (desperately needed)
• Divetelact milk formula
• Any other useful animal care supplies
Donations can be dropped directly to:
📍 9 Parker Street, South Mackay
Alternatively, donations can be left in any Mackay Pet Rescue Inc donation bin and we will ensure they are delivered to Bush Babies Wildlife Care.
At Mackay Pet Rescue Inc, we know that animal welfare organisations achieve so much more when we work together. We are proud to support Bush Babies Wildlife Care in any way we can and encourage our supporters to do the same.
Every towel, every blanket, every tin of formula and every donation makes a difference to an orphaned animal in need.
Thank you for supporting the people who dedicate their lives to giving our precious wildlife a second chance. ❤️

Last Tuesday morning at the Mackay Chamber of Commerce B2B Brews hosted by Community Bank Sarina at the Sarina Arts Council.
A huge thank you to Community Bank Sarina for hosting such a welcoming event and for their ongoing commitment to supporting local community organisations. We were absolutely thrilled when two lucky door prize winners were invited to nominate a charity to receive a donation.
A special thank you to Jade McAuley from Rebel Nation, who nominated Mackay Pet Rescue Inc. We were honoured to be selected and incredibly grateful to receive a $150 donation to help support the animals in our care.
These opportunities don't happen without support behind the scenes, so we would also like to thank Daly Bay for sponsoring our Chamber membership and making it possible for us to attend events like these. The connections, conversations and opportunities that come from being part of the Chamber community are invaluable.
As an added bonus, I was appointed the Chamber's unofficial "cheerleader" for the morning, helping welcome people, introduce attendees and make sure nobody felt alone in a room full of strangers. Community is built through connection, and it was lovely to see so many people supporting one another.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support local charities, local businesses and the people working hard to make our region a better place.
