With brid flu detected in South Australia that is a real concern for us.
Tasmania is close to the Southern Ocean flyway these birds that have brid flu are Wind-Driven... If you look at the weather forecast that's important.
With a case now confirmed in South Australia and our next strong surge of Northwesterly winds expected early July ( July 2 to July 4 if we do get any cases that will be our highest risk timeline.
With a positive SAM also in play this is reducing the frequency and strength of cold fronts crossing Australia the more time these birds have to be infected and lingering.
So yeah it is very concerning and why Tasmania is on high alert this could be catastrophic.
While it's not anything like covid people need to take it seriously.

Caution for Ice and fog ⚠️
Widespread area's of frost and fog with icy roads will make driving conditions dangerous overnight into Thursday morning throughout inland areas of the state particularly Midlands, Derwent Valley, inland Central North, Southeast and Central plateau / Highlands districts.
Safety advice: 🚕
* Turn on low-beam headlights use fog lights if you have them.
* Increase stopping distance: Ice and slush make your stopping distance significantly longer. Leave at least 6 to 10 seconds of space between your car and the vehicle in front of you.
* Drive smoothly: Accelerate, brake, and steer as gently as possible. Sudden or harsh inputs will cause your tires to lose grip and the car to skid.
* Watch for black ice: Be incredibly cautious on tree-covered roads, overpasses, and bridges. These shaded areas freeze first, creating transparent ice that looks just like a wet road.
* Avoid cruise control: You need full, manual control of your accelerator and speed on slippery surfaces so you can react quickly
*Pull over if necessary: If the fog becomes too dense or visibility drops to near-zero, find a safe spot off the road (such as a parking lot or rest area) and wait for conditions to improve
*Clear your windows and lights: Ensure your windscreen, side mirrors, headlights, and tail lights are completely clear of frost and fog before you set off. Use your car's defroster, heater, and air conditioning to keep it clear.
* Check your tires: Ensure your tires are in good condition and maintain proper tread depth for maximum grip.
Please slow down drive to the conditions.
