The term “disadvantaged youth” refers to young people that face challenges when it comes to opportunities for education, employment and overall wellbeing. These challenges can include, but are not limited to, poverty, homelessness, mental health and social exclusion.
We will be exploring these elements in a new content series. We understand that everyone’s story and situation is different but we hope that this might help raise our awareness and understanding of these issues our youth may be facing.
First up we’re looking at mental health and how that looks for children 🩵🩷

Our vision is achieved through long term partnerships with youth focused agencies, service providers and importantly, the local business community, to identify those in need of assistance and the provision of appropriate support.
We firmly believe that the most effective and sustainable way to address the many challenges facing youth in Tasmania is to bring our community on our journey. That is why we have to set up some important community partnerships network.

“We do not develop anything with one giant step. No matter who you are, or what you do, each one of us had to take a lot of individual steps to accomplish a task, a job, a career, or even a hobby.” - Catherine Pulsifer
Our Fair Go Friends Network allows us to connect clients with employers, programs and services. We have also worked with local organisations to establish programs suited to the needs of our clients.

Have you heard of Miss B's Student Services?
This is one of the organisations we provide financial support to. They’re doing amazing work helping students to feel confident and engaged in their learning. Support is offered across vocal, drama, art, piano, and academic lessons.
The Foundation provides funding for scholarships to allow disadvantaged youth access to this incredible program.
Today we’d just like to say well done to the team for everything they do. We are proud to support such a great organisation and love hearing all of the wonderful and positive feedback from the young participants we have helped access your services 👏

Let’s talk about the theme of this year’s Feast on Tasmania 2026: Stars of tomorrow we’re hosting in partnership with Country Club Tasmania and Craigie Knowe Vineyard.
Our dress theme this year is 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸: black, gold and celestial
Our 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸 theme holds a simple message that anyone can be a star of tomorrow no matter where or what they come from. Just as stars shine light in darkness, stars shine hope through all of life's challenges.
This plays into the Foundation’s goal to give young, disadvantaged Tasmanians the opportunity to realise their dreams and be the best version of themselves.
After all, Fairsy’s motto is: 𝘿𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢. 𝘽𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚. 𝘼𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚.

Following on from introductions, here’s three things you should know about us - our OGs will know these already.
1️⃣ we are 100% Tasmanian
This means we are a Tassie based charity, helping Tassie’s disadvantaged youth. We don’t branch out anywhere else, we’re Tasmanians here for Tasmanians.
2️⃣ volunteer-led organisation
Did you know we don’t have any employees? When it comes to the work we do with and for Tassie’s disadvantaged youth, it is carried out by volunteers or partners via Fair Go Friends.
Our dedicated and passionate Board members volunteer their time, and we have a small but committed team of volunteers that organise and coordinate various activities and events within the organisation.
We are incredibly grateful to this fantastic crew who make it happen. ‘It’ being transforming the lives of Tassie’s disadvantaged youth.
3️⃣ community-led change
This one lends itself to our vision of a Tasmania where communities come together to give every person the opportunity to be the best version of themselves. It is the reason our Fair Go Friends Network exists, and how the Foundation operates. We have a strong network of partners and businesses that support our work and clients where possible.
You can find out more at our website including how you can support the Foundation or your business can join our Fair Go Friends Network.
