Space
If we had all the water in the ocean
And all the stars up in the sky
Still our love would fill
The empty heavens
The barren plains would amplify
The whoosh and swell
Of hearts’ fire rushing in
To lift us whirling turning
Swirling in the maelstrom
Dancing with the wind
Unpinned from what
had gone before this flood
swept in and pulled us
both away from Then
You said stay. Oh stay!
You traced the contours of my face
With your warm hand
And made a space for me to fill
With you and I and us
To hold all the water in the ocean
And all the stars up in the sky

Today’s 3 word poem
(Loneliness, flower, bulldozer)
A flower grew, called loneliness
In a field called despair
A wind called desolation
Whisked leaves into the air
From a tree called silence
Across a river called time
To mountain called sadness
Far and away too high to climb
Then a fish called maybe
Leapt up and caused a splash
A droplet called somehow
Landed on a long eyelash
So a cat called kindness
Rubbed her head against the arm
Of a stranger called compassion
Who awoke and spoke a charm
And a spell called forgiveness
Pulled down hard upon a rope
And the engine started roaring
In a bulldozer called hope
It pushed a soil called friendship
Below the flower and above
Before long there sprang a garden
And the garden’s name was love.

For fun, I ask a friend for three words and write a poem containing them. If you’d like a three word poem, get in touch!
Poem for Maymouse
Using the three words:
‘Trumpet, unconditional, love’
Maymouse tilts her head
And regards the trumpet thoughtfully
Drums her fingers on the table
Then said she, ‘would you mind awfully?
If I took it to a fella who,
Through methods untraditional,
Will tell me all I need to know
For the sale to be unconditional?
You see’, she added earnestly
‘This is a trumpet most unusual
It’s to use in a love potion
Thus my darling to bamboozle
And if the note is sharp or flat
My planned purpose could be sunk
And what a dreadful outcome
If instead of grow; things shrunk!’
